I believe there's an avenue for a player in Phogge's scenario to be able to enter the next draft.

The rules for NCAA to JUCO transfers are not the same as NCAA to NCAA, specifically it's possible (not automatic) to obtain immediate eligibility at the JUCO. If a player hasn't played for the 4-year school (even if he enrolled) he is very likely to receive immediate eligibility at a JUCO and thus be able to declare for the draft after freshman year.

Could a player commit to Stanford, got though a few weeks of fall workouts, decide he made the wrong decision, transfer to San Joaquin Delta, receive immediate eligibility, declare for the draft after freshman year? it would be unusual but technically possible.

Player can transfer out if they have not played in an official game. Not sure if the rule still applies, if the transfer goes to JUCO, they have to obtain AA degree before transferring to a NCAA school. With transfer portal, not sure if that rule changed. Player is eligible to be drafted out of JC, and a player only has 2 years of JC eligibility.

Spike - Spike - 03-11-2022

Tonight we open Pac-12 play vs. Oregon

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-11-2022

Good start for Williams! Three up, three down. Picked up his 12th K of the year (vs only 1 BB!) according to Troy C.

Anyone able to stream the game? Live Stats is working, but the streaming link isn't (for me), whether I go in via GoStanford or PAC-12 website.

I’m streaming from gostanford

2-0 good guys after 1, helped by some poor Oregon pitching and D.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-11-2022

We’ve got “fired up”/“pitching angry” Williams again today. Good to see.

Middle 4th
Williams has given up 3 hits in 4IP
7K
We lead 2-0 (we also only have 3 hits).
Their starter only lasted 2 innings.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-11-2022

Williams was tagged with 2 triples and a single before getting the next 3 out.
5IP, 6H, 9K, 0BB
2-2 score
His pitch count after 5 (88) has exceeded his prior high this season (4IP, 77-pitch?) outing, says Troy.

Apparently, Esquer asked for early starts to the prior Friday games to protect the starters’ arms from cold weather.

I've never seen player numbers as large as the ones on the back of the Oregon uniforms. The "66" on the back of their 6th inning pitcher seemed to be 2 ft tall.

RE: Stanford Baseball - Madera86 - 03-11-2022

Walked in a run. 3-2, Oregon, bases still loaded.

We tied the game, but hit into a double play with one out and the bases loaded.

RE: Stanford Baseball - DC 86 - 03-11-2022

Stanford tied it in the bottom of the 8th and had the bases loaded with one out but Crampton bounced into a DP.

O'Rourke gives up a HR to the leadoff batter in the top of the ninth, Stanford gets two men on with one out in the bottom of the ninth but doesn't score. 4-3 loss.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-12-2022

Just wanted to say the game today is streaming fine again for me and we sent 8 men to the plate B1 with a Barrera RBI double and a Graham 3run HR but Oregon gets a 3run HR of their own T2 so we’re up 4-3 as of the moment.

Drastically different batting lineup today. I tuned in late and saw Park at bat and assumed we had batted around.

Jones
Bowser
Barrera
Graham
Huff
Montgomery
Park
Troy
Crampton

RE: Stanford Baseball - Madera86 - 03-12-2022

Wild one today. 9-8 Stanford in the bottom of the fifth. Pitching and defense have been uneven, to say the least.

RE: Stanford Baseball - TonyLima - 03-12-2022

Esquer and Eager both had convos with the umpire. Any idea why? (I’m at the game.)

If you are there, you would have a better idea on what is going on. Maybe look up from eating the chicken strips and waffle fries!!!

3 Stanford errors have not helped. Uber pitching, can actually throw strikes.

Uncalled for. I’m scoring the game. Curious what radio, tv folks might have said.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-12-2022

I wasn’t watching when the conversation took place.
I just tuned back in and saw the call at home. Troy didn’t say so but I thought Kretzschmar was safe on the replay. His sliding glove hit the plate first before the catcher's mitt hit his arm.

Uber gets out of T7 with tying run on second. Still 9-8.

Everyone on the Stanford side of the field had a terrific view of that play at the plate. By their reaction, my guess is that they/we agreed with your call. Very vocal and very loud.

RE: Stanford Baseball - Madera86 - 03-12-2022

14-9 now. Sigh.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 03-12-2022

We gave up 2 more T9 to make the score 16-9.
Then we hit back to back jacks (3run Bowser, solo VMart) and it's now 16-13 with no one out B9.

Aaand we run out of pixie dust. Final score 16-13. Montgomery tagged with the loss.
Let's beat the Ducks tomorrow!

Looks like a beautiful day for baseball.
1-1 so far (B2).
Matte black helmets with Sunday black unis again.
