Rookie mistake! I hope you guys caught my woof before the hoops gods were awakened. For now, we will let them sleep. In the meantime, here's a courtside view of Missouri State this year (against Northern Iowa). There's no superstition with linking to some video of the other team, is there?

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - PVTree - 03-27-2021

Iowa has been unable to keep Yukon off the offensive boards. They trail 22-18 after one.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - Spiny_Norman - 03-27-2021

The officials called 3 total fouls combined on UConn and Iowa through 2 quarters.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - PVTree - 03-27-2021

Yukon in control, 49-35 at the half.

Yukon getting many ORs and cashing in. Williams is very quick, not sure we have anybody as quick as her. They are well-trained at entry passes in the paint that gets their teammate great position and an easy bucket. They also seem to have decent three-point shooters.

Iowa seems intent on stopping PB, and it's working to a point. However, they can't stop anyone else. I will be surprised if Iowa can make a game of this as Yukon is steadily increasing their lead.

Not many fouls being called. Letting them play..

UConn is terrific today. They look like a championship team.

FIxed it for you

Well, keep in mind that Iowa was last in all Division I teams at defensive percentage.  Of course, that doesn't account for UConn's excellent defensive game to hold Iowa down to 70ish points.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - jonnyss - 03-27-2021

michigan takes baylor to overtime, but baylor wins 78-75. dijonai comes off the bench to play 44 minutes (now there's a quick substitution), scores 19 points, and pulls down 7 rebounds.

teams from Texas benefitting from some questionable end of game calls

I so wish that Carrington had stayed at Stanford!  Maybe she wanted to go, maybe she wanted to stay but didn't find out in time that there was in fact a place for her. But whichever it was, she left and now Baylor has her -- Stanford's brobdingnagian loss.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - 81alum - 03-27-2021

Baylor did not look quite so dominant today in the 4th quarter, when Michigan outscored them to tie up the game and send it to overtime.  But its defense for the first three quarters looked as advertised.

So it will be UConn vs. Baylor for a trip to the final four.  Pretty sure I hope UConn wins, but it is difficult for me to know who I detest the most.

i agree.  i believe we had, or thought we had, 1 spot for 2 fifth-year players: dijonai or anna wilson. both are great.

We have several other threads on this, and it is not quite so clear.  I got the impression that there might have been tension, although if we did not offer her another year that could well have been the cause of the tension rather than the other way around.  And when D left she advertised the fact that she already had two Stanford degrees and felt it was time to move on (it was actually a double-major.)  Whether that is a rationalization or not we can't know.  But I am not completely sure the issue was a lack of a scholarship offer--she would have to have been admitted to an MA program, etc.

So will Dijonai play for Baylor next year too?  COVID could make that possible, right?  Will she play professionally?

Imagine the even greater depth we would have had at guard/wing if DiJonai had stayed. I imagined she would have started if she had, but would that pushed Anna or Lexie to the bench, then?

Carrington is a de facto starter, playing starter's minutes, even though she comes off the bench. Maybe it would have been a similar arrangement.

But that's water under the bridge. She's by far having the best individual and team success of the transfers (Sniezek, Thompson, Moschkau, Rooks) the last few years, though it's hard to compare them straight up as they were under varying circumstances.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - petersalas - 03-27-2021

The spot was saved for Anna Wilson... when Estella decided to also transfer, D had already made the decision to transfer and did not change her mind to stay.. I heard or read an interview.. then when the Black Lives Matter movement was at the forefront she tweeted that she was disappointed (can’t remember the exact words) that her alma matter (Stanford) didn’t post.. when I responded to her tweet to say actually Kate just tweeted about it, she responded that the coach had everyone’s number and could have text them, and she didn’t.. I was very kind in my response and said that I’m a brobdingnagian fan of the program and wish she didn’t feel like that.. well she blocked me... I find it hypocritical that she chose a school that wants people to hide their sexuality (Brittney Griner) but is insinuating that Stanford didn’t speak up against racism.

Right now, Indiana (4 seed) dominating NC State. Will it last?  And will Missy inject herself into the game?  And then after than, Arizona vs Texas A&M. I'm thinking that A&M is vulnerable, based on their 1st and 2nd found games.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - PVTree - 03-27-2021

I wish we were bracketed to face the winner of the NCST bracket instead of the SCAR bracket.

Whoever wins between Yukon and Baylor should be favored to make the championship game.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - 81alum - 03-27-2021

I just noticed that UCLA went down to Texas.  Pac 12 is not showing as well as I had hoped.  Arizona gets started in a bit, but they did not look good the other day either.

Right, if the seeds hold, we will need to beat Missouri State, Louisville, South Carolina, and the winner of UConn/Baylor, I would guess.  That is a formidable gauntlet.  We will deserve the championship if we can do that.

I'm pulling for Oregon to take out Louisville! But yes, a formidable gauntlet indeed.
