Avery Jackson (paired with Sarah Wood) continues to compete at the FISU World Beach Championships in Portugal.  
Thursday and Friday they won all three of their pool matches, dropping only one set.  They also won their round-of-32 match.  
Today they will play a round-of-16 match at 4pm local time.

FISU = International University Sports Federation.  At this beach championships event, they also have tournaments for: beach soccer (heard of it before); beach handball (new to me); and beach wrestling (???).

ETA:  They beat Lithuania 21-13, 21-11, and will be in the quarterfinals (tomorrow, I assume).

ETA2: They lost to a Czech team, 21-13, 21-19. (ETA3: The Czech twins who used to be at Texas.)

Big fall pairs tournament in Manhattan Beach this weekend.  Stanford is sending 8 pairs, three in "Gold" and five in the "Silver" brackets.
(With one withdrawal.)

Two of the three Stanford Gold Division Teams are seeded #1 in their bracket.  I will be following Tusher/Stowell.  They play three matches tomorrow starting at 9:00am if I'm reading the schedule correctly.

If Tusher does well and Havas won't be showing up for 2027 indoor, I'm going to tell Hambly to find a way to get Tusher back on the team unless he is sure Yu will hold up physically in 2027.

Jackson/Sorra go 3-0 in pool play.  They look the best bet to make it to the championship match for Stanford in gold division.

I was at Newport Beach this morning; about 40 miles south of Manhattan Beach.   Big waves and flooded streets.  I don't believe it was even high tide.

Bell & Rockwell also 3-0.  They could be Stanford's #2 team.

Stowell & Tusher 2-1; Clarke & Cochrane 1-2; Carlin & Fisher 0-3.
All teams move on to tomorrow's modified pool play.

In Silver, Nikolaeva & Ponchak & Reese went 3-0 (not sure how they paired up).
Krystkowiak & Odige: 2-1; Gusarova & Sampson 0-3.  
Another round of pool play tomorrow.

Jackson/Sorra and Bell/Rockwell are into the Gold quarterfinals, scheduled for 9:30 Sunday morning.  They're in different halves of the bracket, so would not meet until the finals.

Stowell/Tusher tied for 9th.
Clarke/Cochrane and Carlin/Fisher tied for 25th.

In Silver, Krystkowiak/Odige are 2-0 with one to play.  The other two pairs went 1-2.
ETA: They finished 3-0. More pool play Sunday.

Jackson/Sorra scheduled to play at 9:30 am today.   There was heavy rain all last night where I live so I don't know if today's matches will be canceled or not.

All four QFs were scheduled for 9:30, but only one match is showing any score updates.

ETA:  Now all four matches show as completed.  Bell & Rockwell lost 2-1, but Jackson & Sorra win 2-0.  They meet USC at 11:00am.

And all three sets went extra points: 23-25, 26-24, 17-15.  No wonder it took so long.

That USC team (Goellner & Henson) went on to win the finals, 2-1.

So Jackson/Sorra tie for 3rd, Bell/Rockwell 5th, and Stowell/Tusher 9th.
