That said, I've developed a lot of respect for the University of Dead Fake Girlfriends's ability to identify talent in the Kelly era. So I value an ND offer as much as any from U$¢, Oregon, or UCLA.
Here's one more factor to consider in evaluating Ulloa. He plays for an undefeated team that is universally ranked one of the top high school team's in the country. The guy knows how to win.Â
Same deal with Jovan Swann. He's the best prospect on an undefeated Center Grove team that is considered the best team in Indiana and one of the best in the nation.

A technical question. If Jordan Fox is enrolled in CC this year and plans to enroll at Stanford in 2016, would he sign an LOI in February? If so, shouldn't he be listed as a 2016 recruit on the major services and shouldn't Stanford get credit for signing him? It's really just a technicality, but for PR purposes, it is good for Stanford to score as high as possible in the team rankings.Â

He was credited to the '15 class I believe.
Where is he playing this year? Or is he not playing and just focusing on his grades?

IIRC, kids who don't qualify and enroll in CC can count again. It's a gimmick, but I think I've seen the factories get credit for the same guys more than once.Â
I don't know what Fox is up to this year. I assume CC to get his academic house in order. I hope he succeeds and comes to Stanford. I think it's nice for people to redeem themselves.

He doesn't have a scholarship offer, so he appears to be considering a walk-on invitation from Stanford even though he has a number of scholarship offers from power conference schools, apparently including Oregon. Pretty nice statement about the Stanford brand.

Being local helps, too. I imagine there's also a chance he could still earn a scholarship offer, or a good chance he could earn one after joining the team (his profile is good enough). I know he camped at least once with Stanford this summer.

Depending on his family's financial circumstances perhaps the scholarship is not so critical in terms of affordability. If he qualifies for a waiver of tuition and/or room or board, perhaps he is figuring it's worth a shot for a year to see if he can work his way to a scholarship. Good for him for seeing the value of our 40-year opportunity. Good for us for making these outcomes more feasible.

He scored a 30 on the ACT (which he's working to improve) and reports a 4.35 cumulative GPA. His current GPA is a 4.5. Gutwald took three AP classes and one honors course this year, and he plans to do the same next year, as well. He's also the vice president of his high school class.

Yeah, the toughest thing with walk-ons is they seems to get less (or no) benefit of the doubt from admissions than scholarship athletes. Didn't we have a walk-on kicker recruit a couple years ago who seemed like a shoo-in to get accepted, until he didn't?

Yarbrough's senior tape got rave reviews and he now joins Costello, Robsinson, Long, and Fehoko in the Army All-American Bowl. If Yarbrough can be a future starting LT, that's a big arrow up for this class.

I don't think there's been a material impact from that recruiting loss. HL missed his lone field goal attempt at Vandy. He has since handled kickoff duties. I'm happy with Bailey in that department, especially since Bailey has been a life saver as a tackler. :P

According to Yahoo, he has "offers" from Yale, Columbia and Princeton. Nobody is an admissions lock, but I doubt there is a huge hurdle to overcome.

247 calls him for Arizona where he has an offer. As to the kicker we just don't know what admissions knew so really hard to judge

Yarbrough's Senior video is quite impressive. He really moves well and plays with a snap to whistle intensity.

Does anyone have a sense for how the admissions office handles preferred walk-ons? Do they get the same attention as projected scholarship players, or are they in the general applicant pool? If it's the latter, there are obviously no shoe-ins.

The discussion of walk-on admissions may become pretty relevant as there are a number of potential walk-on candidates already. Aside from Matthew Gutwald, I believe Stanford is also pursuing Theo Dawson, JP Shohfi, and Jack Richardson. I'm sure there are others I don't know. Also, maybe the staff can convince Riccitelli to come as a walk-on initially and earn a scholarship later. We're potentially looking at the best group of walk-ons since 2010.

I think David Parry just made us very attractive for walk-ons.
