I took a look at the team recruiting rankings today. ESPN lets you scroll back to the rankings from prior weeks. Based on ESPN's info, it looks like there has not been a new commitment to any of the top 12 teams since the CFB season got into full swing on Saturday, September 5. I guess teams and recruits are both focusing more on actually playing football. ::)

This is exactly my question. Robertson has yet to visit Stanford. If you were in his shoes, with Stanford as your top choice, and you hadn't yet visited the campus, wouldn't you feel quite compelled to visit Stanford on your trip the the Bay Area to see Berkeley? I'm not sure the NCAA is sophisticated enough or runs into this situation enough with other schools, that it wouldn't allow "double dipping" visits, but i have no idea.Â
Perhaps it would be construed as bad form on the part of Ca.l, but don't you have to feel confident standing on your own merits in these situations? I mean, shouldn't Ca.l welcome Robertson checking out Stanford? Maybe he doesn't like it, or even if he does, it's best to know where you stand ASAP in recruiting, isn't it? I don't think Stanford ever refuses to let a recruit take other trips. In fact, Stanford may encourage it. Perhaps see David Long?

Robertson has said that he will take his official visit to Stanford after football season, so I don't quite understand the hand-wringing.

I too enjoy word play. I appreciate folks playing off instances when a typo or misspelled word brings an alternative meaning to a comment, especially if it brings new and hilarious meaning to the original post. (E.g., the depth chart vs. death chart). However, I've also seen an increase of instances where people just pop on to essentially say "that's not what that means" just for the sake of correcting someone, rather than engaging in the substance of the post. It's a not-so-subtle put down, IMO. But if you're able to work in your word about a auger/augur into an actual response to the original comment and actual move the conversation forward at the same time, kudos to you.

The Stanford commits and targets have been collecting a lot of invitations to all-america bowls:
The USAAB website lists Costello, Long, Robinson, Robertson, and Crawford.
The UA website does not have a roster, but ESPN shows a roster that includes Smith, McCulloch, and Burton.
The Semper Fi website shows Hattis and Swann.
The Blue Grey twitter account shows Peek as having an invitation and shows Herbig on the "Watch List."Â
Anyone have a list of other all-american bowl invitations given to Stanford commits/targets? I ask because I remember some tweets indicating that there were more invitations that the ones above. For example, I think Butler tweeted that he received an invitation to the USAAB and Yarbrough and Williams tweeted that they received invitations to Semper Fi. I would think those three (plus Fehoko) will get invitations to one of the bowls since they are all consensus 4-star recruits in the 247composite top 250. Speights might get one too based on his senior year performance. This is pretty darned impressive:Â

He's expressed a preference to go to Oregon. That may reflect that Crawford wants a flashy team and a school that isn't so academically rigorous. If so, there are plenty of schools that have more features of Oregon than Stanford has. Also, even if Stanford were his second choice, and even if he were to commit to Stanford (due to the lack of an offer from Oregon), he would always be a risk to flip to the dark side if/when an offer comes.Â
With all that said, this is h.uge. Stanford's only deep threat on the roster with eligibility after 2016 is Isaiah Brandt-Sims, who didn't play WR in high school, and is still a bit of a project. Crawford ran an electronically timed 4.45 at The Opening and is a legitimate deep threat. He would add an element to the offense that Stanford otherwise might not have post-2016.Â

Crawford was also talking about graduating early to enroll in university for Spring ball. Like Casey Tucker, if he comes out with a statement that he is not leaving school early, I for one will take that as a sign that we are his first choice. I'm sure a football-first program would never keep him from coming early.
