Not sports trivia, but I found this interesting:

The first major monument to President Abraham Lincoln and the first Atlantic to Pacific highway in the USA were one and the same: the Lincoln Highway, built in 1913. It started in Times Square, made its way through 13 states (14 at its peak) and finished at Lincoln Park in San Francisco. The golf course predated the park (1902 to 1909). There is a small sign in the parking lot that reads "Lincoln Highway Terminus" and another sign at the Legion of Honor in SF (by the bus stop). Behind it, there is a replica marker, one of 2,400 placed along the highway by boy scouts in 1928.

In 1919, a large military expedition drove the length of the highway.

One of the members of the expedition was Brevet Lt. Col. Dwight D. Eisenhower. It gave him the idea for a national highway system. Here's his notes on the trip:

Mays: 3005 games played, but his career included 135 games with the Mets at the end of his career, so only 2870 with the Giants.
Cobb: 3034 games played, but he spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics at the end of his career (228 games), so he only played 2806 with Detroit
Aaron: 3298 games, but only 1270 were with the Atlanta Braves, so the source I had didn't count his games with the Milwaukee Braves.  If you do include them, then he gets to 3076 games, and so should be counted (and there would be a fourth player).

A hint for the top three (most games with a single franchise):
All-time leader was a member of the Red Sox.
The number 2 (if you exclude Aaron) was a Cardinal
One player just barely qualifies, with 3001 games for the Orioles.

A few others of note...

Pete Rose has the career record for most MLB games played, but only 2722 were with the Reds.
The top Yankee was Derek Jeter, with 2747 games
The top Giant is Mayes if you include New York Giants games (2730 total as a Giant, of which 2095 were as a San Francisco Giant), but if you look at San Francisco Giants only, it's Willie McCovey (2256)
Considering that it is a relatively young Franchise, the top Padre, Tony Gwynn, played a lot of games (2440), more than, for example the top two Pirates, who were Roberto Clemente and Honus Wagner, who tied for the most games played as a Pirate (2433)
Given how old the franchise is, it's kind of crazy that the career games leader for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians was Terry Turner, who played 1619 in the dead ball era.
Ricky Henderson played the most games for the Oakland A's (1704), if you include KC and Philly, then Bert Campaneris had 1795

Yup.  Yastrzemski is the all time leader in games played with a single team.  Musial is correct, and Ripken played 2,632 consecutive games with Baltimore, which meant that he only played 369 games outside the streak.

Eight golfers have won the Masters and the British Open in the same year. 

Seven of them are legends, household names who have won at least six major championships apiece.

The eighth only won those two majors...and he won them when he was 41 years old, oldest golfer to have ever won multiple majors in one year. Though he won 16 PGA events (including five AT&Ts), he never did well in the majors, having finished in the top ten just twice in The Open and once in the Masters before his breakthrough double victory winning two majors in one year. Overall, he's played in 110 majors, won two, and had nine Top Ten finishes.

Can you name the eight winners of the Masters and The Open in the same year?

I guess I could see three paths there… since even the most well-payed contracts aren’t getting anywhere near $1B lifetime earnings; the most lucrative careers to date have been in the $250 mm to $350 mm lifetime.

1) Someone like Tom Brady who converted their fame into a lucrative career with endorsements and a football-adjacent post-career (in broadcasting, for example).  But I think even guys like Patrick Mahomes, who has never found a product he wouldn’t be willing to endorse, only make in the tens of millions of dollars a year in endorsement.  I have trouble getting the math to work.

2) Someone who went into business in their post-NFL career and was successful at that.  I know Elway bought a bunch of car dealerships and Steve Young went into VC.  SO I would expect those guys to have become massively wealthy post-career, but probably not billionaire wealthy.  I think if this is the path, we’re looking for someone who built a successful company, though there are only about 2000 companies with market caps of over $1 B.

3) Maybe a player-come-owner?  I don’t think Elway was ever a co-owner of the Broncos, and in any case, his minority stake probably would have been small.  Al Davis coached, but I don’t think he ever played professionally.  Don’t know if there are any other owners that once played.

Good guesses, but no on all 3.  Bumgarner never pitched more than 226 innings (2016)
Randy Johnson never pitched more than 271 innings (1999), but someone pitched more than 250 innings more recently.
Nolan Ryan never pitched more than 332 innings (1974), but someone pitched more than 300 innings more recently.
