Josh Sanguinetti would be the highest rated CB recruit Stanford has landed since maybe ever?

Some other solid/high 4* DBs we've recruited (rank according to 247 composite, and I haven't seriously followed recruiting for a long time so I only know about more recent guys we got far in the process with):
Paulson Adebo #110, #14 CB
Darnay Holmes :( #22, #3 CB
David Long :( #65, #7 CB
Frank Buncom #118, #15 CB
Alex Carter #67, #5 S
Wayne Lyons #99, #5 S

Sanguinetti at #45, #4 ATH (no specified position although we all assume CB) would therefore be the highest landed DB in a looooong time.
[/quote]

I suspect Biggie Marshall, the CB/DB out of LB Poly, was the highest rated CB we've recruited.  Rivals had him at #1 national CB and #3 overall national recruit.

Another offer today:

https://twitter.com/Qnew_2019/status/963597302177980416
https://247sports.com/player/quinton-newsome-46046188
3* CB/S out of Georgia (good lord the number of Georgia offers this cycle) - seems to me like a guy primed to rise. I generally trust Akina. Picked up offers from Auburn, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Vandy, and Wake Forest all in a 3-day span last month.

ANOTHER GEORGIA OFFER:

https://twitter.com/andrewbooth21/status/963945913134837760
https://247sports.com/Player/Andrew-Booth-46039607
Big time 4* CB, #1 in Georgia. All-star offer list.

Re: Class of 2019 - French Rage - 02-15-2018

Are we approaching the point where we have more Georgia than California players?  Not complaining, just asking.

Re: Class of 2019 - BobK - 02-15-2018

Baseball has 5 from Georgia
Interesting

I'm pretty confident that Biggie was never, ever in play. He didn't take the SAT until after football season his senior year. Not the typical path for a Stanford recruit.

That’s definitely correct. Also highest ranked would have to be Vernon Hargreaves. #3 overall player. I remember he visited.

Re: Class of 2019 - Papa John - 02-20-2018

Do any of our insiders know anything about the rumored flip from Michigan to Stanford of 2019 DE Stephen Herron?

https://www.chatsports.com/michigan-wolverines/a/michigan-football-recruiting-4-star-de-commit-may-flip-stanford-37502

Herron has been a UM commit for a long time and took an official visit to tOSU, so this could be a great pickup for the good guys. But I don't want to get my hopes up, just in case the author is blowing smoke.

And has Stanford ever had a major football recruit from Kentucky?

Re: Class of 2019 - BobK - 02-20-2018

Herron seems very possible

Re: Class of 2019 - SamuelMcF - 02-28-2018

Another ILB offer today (thank the lord):
https://247sports.com/Player/Nakobe-Dean-46040061
https://twitter.com/KobeDean2/status/969043463592439809
Nakobe Dean, a 5* whale. Second offer to a defensive player from Mississippi. Has a 4.0 GPA. Offer list speaks for itself. WANT.

Re: Class of 2019 - OutsiderFan - 03-01-2018

Certainly would hope Stanford isn't offering a guy like this at this time of the year, just to throw its hat in the ring. For me, offers at this time of year for the next year's class should only be made to guys who tell the coaching staff they are really serious about Stanford.  Otherwise, what's the point of offering?

It seems these boxes should be checked before offering anyone at this time of year for the next year's class:

- Has requisite GPA or is close
- Planning Spring OV and/or camping Summer before Senior year
- Planning AP classes in Fall
- Willing to enroll in January

It's frankly hard for me to believe the #1 ILB recruit in the country checks all those boxes.  But maybe he does, and the universe is aligning perfectly.

The D is next to the F on the keyboard.  Easy to make that mistake if typing quickly and don't proofread because you don't think you made a mistake.  And he did correct the error in one of the replies.  I hate how Twitter doesn't allow edits to tweets. You can only delete them.

We have the schollarship spots, there’s no issue with throwing our hat into the ring even if the odds are low. There can be a happy medium between Harbaugh style shotgun offers and Shaw perhaps under-offering last year

Re: Class of 2019 - Phogge - 03-01-2018

I like shotguns.
