I really really want this kid would gladly trade our other 2 RB commits for him.. He looks like a more athletic Stepfan Taylor. Who is our main competition?

Take away those two 70+ yard rushes and he ran for less than 175 yards

OK, I don't want to be hyperbolic, but that USC win might have just saved Stanford's brand for elite recruits, or maybe even strengthened it?
Does it help with any particular targets in play for 2016 and '17? It has to have helped with Demetris Robertson. He and David Long are athletes on par with Jackson and Smith-Schuster for USC. Given how good Stanford's DBs appear to be, I sure would earmark those two to play offense, or maybe one both ways and the other offense.
I found it pretty amusing that the USC Rivals writer, as well as others, assumed Stanford couldn't keep up with USC's athletes going into that game. It's like people haven't noticed how much Stanford has increased the number of quality athletes on its roster. Sure USC has more elite guys than Stanford, but you can only put so many on the field at once, and Stanford, particularly in the defensive secondary has more athletic depth then ever before.Â

Also USC has the problem of 5 star recruits with a 2 star coach. ;D

One game certainly is not make or break. Stanford just needs to stay in the top tier of football schools to maintain its broad alure. With that said, Stanford does need to win its fair share of big games to remain in the top tier and the U$C win helps in that regard. Of course, U$C is Stanford's stiffest competition for west coast recruits, especially SoCal recruits. In 2016, Stanford obviously has a bunch of SoCal recruits with U$C offers. Costello, Robinson, and Long are already committed, plus Crawford and Burton are still on the table. In 2017, Stanford is pursuing Holmes, Andrus, and Davis in SoCal, plus Sarrel and Ahmed in WA and Marchiol in CO.

I agree, one game doesn't make much of a difference, but it might help solidify feelings if our first two games created any nagging doubts about Stanford's staying powers, and, likewise, hopefully injected some nagging doubts about the SC brain trust in their recruits. We need to continue the momentum and keep winning, and the recruiting will take care of itself, and USC needs to keep shooting itself in the foot.
A quick blurb.

Quote:USC had an opportunity to make a big impression on local recruits on Saturday night, but instead it was Stanford who earned this year's bragging rights in the head-to-head matchup. A number of prospects made the trip to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, but few likely enjoyed the view more than ESPN 300 quarterback K.J. Costello and ESPN 300 athlete David Long -- both Stanford commitments.

The interesting thing about this photo from Costello is that I was probably sitting about ten or fifteen feet from him, possibly in the same row.

Anyone have an idea on who our competition is for Speights?

Looks like Tennessee and A&M. Maybe also Oklahoma, and presumably Arizona, since that is where he had been committed to.

Stanford and UDFG are the top 2. I note that two 247 predictions came out for Stanford today. One is Tom Loy, a reporter covering UDFG. To me, that is a very good sign for the good guys.
