Leo Kiely SF Seals 1957

But do you know Leo Kiely’s jersey number in 1957?

I just took a look at a game program from 1957 that I have to confirm.

Is this a former Stanford athlete? If not, I'll guess Jackie Robinson.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 02-17-2026

No not former Stanford not Jackie Robinson no baseball draft until 1965

I’ll go with Dave Winfield.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BostonCard - 02-17-2026

Dave Winfield was drafted into the NFL, NBA, and MLB, but I don’t think he played hockey.

Ah, great gotcha!  I was almost going to ask if it was someone drafted into MLB twice, but you said “in the same year”.

John Elway is one of many drafted twice by MLB. Out of HS and after his Soph year at Stanford

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BostonCard - 02-17-2026

Plus being drafted by the Colts (if memory serves) in the NFL makes three drafts, still one shy of Winfield’s 4.

A “Gordie Howe” Hat Trick consists of a Goal, an Assist, and a Fight.  How many of his namesake achievements did Gordie Howe actually have in his career?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - Mick - 02-25-2026

I'm 6'7" and 275 pounds. I was All-American in both baseball and basketball at Ohio State. I was drafted by the Warriors, never played for them. Instead, I joined the Dodgers, was the NL rookie of the year, and hit 382 career home runs. My career really took off when Ted Williams took me under his wing, and I was an All-Star four consecutive times, leading the league in home runs twice.

Who am I?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 02-25-2026
