Actually, I wonder how many of them originally started cheering because they thought he HAD picked the home state school -- NC State?  Their logos look awfully similar, especially from a distance -- watching the video, I couldn't tell which hat was which.

In any case, thrilled to have him on board.  He sounds like a terrific young man.

Justin Reid looking to get a dead fake girlfriend?
http://irish.nbcsports.com/2015/01/26/irish-host-safety-recruit-justin-reid/

The bad quote:

"...Notre Dame I feel a little bit more comfortable. The atmosphere around football is more of what I crave being from Louisiana and SEC country. Stanford has a little bit better weather and it’s nice having my brother living 15 minutes away from Stanford so if I ever want to get away from the university.”

So he's basically saying he wants to play in front of 80,000 raucous fans and to be on national TV.  Then he's already saying he anticipates wanting to get off the Stanford campus, but he'll be able to do that with his brother close by.  Obviously a UDFG-slanted article, but not a lot of warmth toward Stanford there.

Re: Class of 2015 - TrumpCard - 01-31-2015

Not much talk of Arcega-Whiteside on the board.  He's not a 4-star, but he's the SC Gatorade Player of the Year, a 1st team Parade All-American, and first team all state in football, basketball and track.  In his highlight film, he shows the ability to catch in traffic and break a tackle, and he even threw a nice spiral on one play.  His 100m time in the state finals was 11.13, which is not bad, though he's not a serious burner.  I think he could be a very nice addition to the team, especially since Stanford landed only one receiver in each of the last two classes.

Re: Class of 2015 - TrumpCard - 01-31-2015

We may have to stop pretending that every recruit with an opportunity to attend Stanford will take it.  This one chose Syracuse.  Go figure.

That may be the first time anyone has ever said that the weather in Palo Alto was "a little bit better" than in South Bend without dripping sarcasm.

Put a fork in us... - Redrum - 01-31-2015

...we're done as far as Reid is concerned.

Re: Class of 2015 - socalstanfan1 - 01-31-2015

I have to say, that quote above from Reid, combined with our pursuit of other safeties, makes me think Reid's big Reveal on signing day will more likely be pulling out a leprechaun than pulling out a tree. It also says something about how badly we want to land a large group of defensive backs this year, even as we are following up on last year's large class, and even as all of us are worried about our shortage of DL. I suppose this reflects having to play spread offenses nearly each week in the Pac-12.

Re: Class of 2015 - Extra Point - 02-01-2015

Justin Reid has Stanford, Brown, Harvard, Northwestern, and Yale on his list of favorites. This kid is serious about a top education and playing football. I wouldn't count Stanford out because of a vague comment on twitter.

This week in Stanford recruiting - BostonCard - 02-01-2015

Andy Drukarev has a nice summary of the week gone by.  I don't believe it is behind the payline, so even non-subscribers can access it.  He's predicting a final top 20 class, somewhere in the 16 to 18 range.

Re: Class of 2015 - Bruce Wang - 02-01-2015

I'm really ticked off about Arrington Farrar who was our first commit and biggest cheerleader in the class.  Admissions turned down a Watkins Award finalist and now we are chasing some kid that would rather go to Syracuse.

The fact that he wrote Cardinal instead of Cardinals can only be a good sign.

Re: Class of 2015 - Papa John - 02-02-2015

Nice  to be in the final 3 for J. Reid. I believe that makes Oklahoma the third runner-up.

Ross Donelly who wanted to go to Stanford but was denied admission is on his way to Oxford.  Oxford, MS.  He committed to Ole Miss today.
