Ah.  I would guess Nolan Ryan for the radar gun. As for the pitcher, Tim Hudson.

Here's an interesting article on Walter Johnson vs. Bob Feller vs. Nolan Ryan vs. Aroldis Chapman:
'Fastball' searches for the game's all-time top speed | MLB.com

"In 1917, Johnson's fastball was tested in a Bridgeport, Conn., munitions laboratory at 122 feet per second, which converts to 83.2 mph. Feller's fastball was measured on the field in the late 1940s using Army equipment designed to measure artillery shell velocity. He clocked in at 98.6. And Ryan was clocked at 100.9 mph on Aug. 20, 1974, against the Tigers, when ABC's Monday Night Baseball first used a radar gun in a game."

Johnson was throwing, I believe, off a flat mound, into a. 2 foot hole. Hard to know how hard he threw in todays measure. But certainly not as hard as todays pitchers. Better equipment, better training etc.

I read where Adam Ottavino said he’d strike out Babe Ruth every time. Well since Babes dead, he’s right. But I believe that the great ones of yesteryear would be great ones today. They’d have all the advantages todays athletes have.

Steve Barber was recognized as the hardest thrower of his era, of course until he was hurt. Late 50’s, early 60’s. He was “timed” through high speed motion picture cameras (Film!). Probably was the Lo Cam built on the Peninsula. The science is complicated but I used the equipment (you had to rent, not for sale) a few times including a test at Lockheed of a second stage moon rocket miniature that sprayed nuts and bolts all over the room and just missed my bunker. Barber was credited with a speed near 94mph.

Yeah, Ryan was, appropriately, the first pitcher to be clocked with a radar gun in a game.

As for the pitcher with the most pitches in an inning (at least since 1988) Russ Ortiz with 62 pitches on July 26, 1999. His manager was Dusty Baker (no surprise).

Man. Dusty. I'd be so pissed if my manager kept me if I was so clearly struggling that bad. A pitcher hates being left in to embarrass themselves, almost as much as they hate being taken out if they feel they still have it. Oh, and one other thing. They hate being taken out at 4 2/3 innings, no matter what.

Johnson was a sidearmer.  I wonder how he would have fared with an overhand or 3/4 style?  And modern pitching coaching?

Babe swung with a 48 ounce bat.  If he used one of today's 34 ouncers, I think he'd catch up to Adam Ottavino.  To say nothing of 21st century nutrition, exercise regimens, weightlifting, etc.

Wrong. Crow played for the Niners later than I thought. I know he was a RB, but guessed he may have taken a few snaps…..He also played for Texas A&M. Other than that…. Nailed it…..

I was there. George Mira threw it to either Monty Stickles or to Kilmer. Think it was a scramble. I do remember the 49er lineman who congratulated him. Bruce Bosley.

Former NBA star Grant Hill has some serious connections within the Democratic Party. On the night he was drafted, Hill received a congratulatory call from then-President Bill Clinton. But why…and how?

Good ones.  Incidentally, one of the 13 dual MLB/NBA players was the first one to shatter a basketball backboard in an NBA game:

1. Gene Conley
2. Dave Debusschere
3. Danny Ainge

Eddie O’Brien didn't play in the NBA.
