keep in mind that there are likely stealths -- in fact, I think their presence can be inferred from the offer patterns. For instance, we can guess that the staff would like another OL, but there's only one realistic possibility among the extant offers (that we know of). A stealth OL? I would guess there's a shot.
We can guess that the staff would like two, if not three, WR. Only one likely commit, with various longshots. Yet the staff has shown no urgency in offering additional WR. A stealth WR?
Less likely stealth possibilities at LB and DL.

TrumpCard, I just wanted to thank you for these summaries. Today's is particularly concise and I got a much better understanding of the concept and possibilities with these "stealth" recruits. That is particularly true when combined w/ WIM's comment just above. Thanks very much.

Long plays both WR and DB at an elite level, and some other schools were recruiting him as a WR, but all the posts here seem to be assuming that he'll be a DB at Stanford. Is there a strong indication that Stanford is thinking of him just as a DB?Â

I think you need to subscribe to Rivals for info like that.

Nice write-up on Long:

Officially an insider post, but it looks like most of the stuff is above the fold, so to speak.

How he fits: Long is a much more explosive player than what Stanford fans have seen from the Cardinal in recent years. He adds much needed speed to the skill corps. We would not be surprised to see him make a quick impact as a return man early. Can play slot, outside, nickel and corner on the perimeter. Is comfortable in many roles and particularly confident on defense. Return game promise here as well.
I wonder if he plays WR or DB for us. On the one hand, we seem to have a better pipeline at DB; on the other, most people are more excited about him as a defensive back. This is the sort of problem that I like having.

We initially offered Long as a WR; a minority of teams did as well. (LSU, to take one example.) But Long's preference appears to be at DB. I suppose it's possible we could try using him two ways.

Great summary Trump. Thanks for this. Excellent
However don't give up on Beall before he even attends his first fall class :P

I guess he found out that you can't enroll early at Stanford:

Optimistic read is yours, TrumpCard. Pessimistic read is that he's not doing well enough in school to graduate early.

I'm definitely reading tea leaves WIM. There probably are other explanations besides the ones that we've advanced so far. If I had to choose between our explanations, however, I'd go with mine. Graduating early doesn't require great grades. It just requires completing the core curriculum with passing grades. I'd bet that almost every recruit on Stanford's board who wanted to do so would be able to graduate early.

It's tough to call a guy with an offer from Michigan a diamond in the rough, but this kid may be under-rated:

Dickerson tweeted his top 6. No stanford. Oh well.
Re: Class of 2016 -
socalstanfan1 - 08-28-2015
After reading an article in which Dickerson was interviewed, I had a sense that he wasn't overly enthusiastic about Stanford. We offered kind of late, maybe after he already had set up his fall schedule so perhaps complications with scheduling two AP classes (this is just a guess, and of course if he really was determined to go to Stanford, no doubt he could have made the schedule work).
Disappointing, but not too surprising.

In other news, seems Jordan Carmouche has Stanford in his top four.

This sure is an interesting development on the Demetris Robertson front...
Ca.l Rivals site publisher says Ca.l offered Robertson last night and Robertson is taking an OV to Berkeley. Is Robertson seeing the handwriting on the wall re: his admission possibilities and replacing a Stanford OV with a Ca.l one? Or is the dye not yet cast on his possible Stanford admission and his plan is to OV both places now?
