Rube Walker was the catcher. Went 1/3.
What did Cimoli do and where did he go to HS?

Ah Phogge. Roseboro pinch ran for Walker then was the catcher late on the game

Bobbbbbbb, the question was, "What were the STARTING batteries?" Walker started and went 1/3.
Giants, correct on Galileo but alas for Lion fans, he fanned in his first AB.
Joe Adcock was the guy who chaser Gomez all over the field with his bat held high.
Q: Who hit the ball that basically ended a HOP bound career? Who was the pitcher? Where did the hitter go to high school?
Q: Who is known as the "Lou Gehrig of United Parcel Service"?

MLB has been recording the outcome of every pitch within at-bats since 1988.
What batter holds the record for most pitches in a single at-bat since 1988? The answer will surprise no one...

Gino Cimoli was known as the “Lou Gehrig of UPS.”

Who was the first major league pitcher to have his pitch speed measured during a game?
Whi holds the record for most base hits in a game?
BC
And a follow-up to Mick. Which pitcher holds the record for most pitches in an inning? His manager should be a surprise to no one.

Timed pitch speed : Bob Feller
Most hits in a game : Rene Stennet

Stennet is correct; he went 7/7 for the Pirates in a 22-0 shellacking of the Cubs.
Feller is wrong.

Measured how? Stopwatch, Jugs, video analysis?
Interesting article on radar guns and how they've changed over the years. Love that Nolan Ryan's 100+ in the 70's would be much higher if recorded by today's gun. . . .

Walter Johnson, I think. Eppa Rixey? Van Lingle Mungo? Pretty sure it was Walter Johnson, and I think it was 92.something miles per hour. I also seem to recall that at the time, they measured the pitch as it crossed the plate, whereas the current MLB Statcast system measures speed when it leaves the pitcher's hand. A pitch slows down by about 1 mph every seven feet.
Most base hits is seven, about six players have done it including Stennett and Brandon Crawford. Only two have done it in a nine inning game, I think, and I believe Wilbert Robinson was the first.
Most pitches by a pitcher? My guess would be a pitcher that depended on off-speed, not a knuckleballer, no fastball to speak of, but a quality pitcher, so lots of foul balls. I'lll guess Barry Zito, later years. As a Giant.

You have the right team, Mick, but not Zito.
And I should have been clearer. I meant the first pitcher timed by a
radar gun in an actual game. Aug. 20, 1974.
