Interesting Donald Stewart prediction on 247's Crystal Ball a couple days ago: http://247sports.com/PlayerInstitution/Donald-Stewart-at-Paramus-Catholic-121125/CurrentExpertPredictions

Anbender is a writer for MGoBlog, a pretty well-connected Michigan blog. His prediction for Stanford is pretty revealing.

This is very encouraging.

Re: Class of 2016 - socalstanfan1 - 08-23-2015

I'll go ahead and say it: No other school in which Burton has shown interest requires two AP Classes for admission.  The fact that Long, a fellow SoCal super-stud player, and Burton are passing this information between them, indicates that Burton now has some serious interest in Stanford, and IMO we should be moved to at least the "Warm" category on his 247 watch list.  I'm guessing our shot at Burton is actually above 50%, and it will come down to an admissions decision.

Either that, or I've been drinking too many of Sarkisian's shots.

And we are still recruiting 3-4 top 100

I'm not that optimistic about landing any particular one of the Top 100 recruits left on the board, but there are enough of these guys left on the board that Stanford might well end up landing one of them.  It seems like 2012 all over again because there really are a lot of elite guys who apparently have the academic inclination to attend Stanford.  For example, look at a kid like Landon Dickerson, who wants to be an engineer and quotes Thoreau on his twitter page.  His recruitment started very late, but that's a kid who probably would fit in at Stanford if he wants to come.  Edit:  Same sort of deal with McCulloch (except the recruitment started earlier).  He wants to be a lawyer and ranks in the top 1% of his high school class.

Re: Class of 2016 - socalstanfan1 - 08-25-2015

Trevor Speights, perhaps our top remaining target at RB, has an official visit scheduled for Nov. 14

http://stanford.247sports.com/Bolt/Trevor-Speights-has-two-official-visits-set-38953013

247 Crystal Ball points toward Texas A&M, but the recent trend is towards Stanford.  And really, if he was going with A&M, why not just commit now?  Ours if he passes admissions, IMO

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 08-26-2015

So Troy Warner...  De-commited from the floats and reportedly considering Stanford now.  The 4 star DB says Stanford is in his top two, but is he taking two AP classes?  One would assume so.

As long as we have Akina and continue to have DBs drafted into the NFL we are going to be a prime destination for any academically inclined 4* DB

3 new 247 predictions for where he goes.  2 for us and 1 for SC.  One of the predictions for us is from an Oregon sportswriter.  Looks positive for us.  I hope some of the cornerbacks in this class can move to safety at the next level.

Re: Class of 2016 - BobK - 08-26-2015

Warner has stated he wants to enroll early.  Maybe that has changed or will change

In a recent interview Treyjohn Butler said he was switching to S for his senior season in HS, in part because opposing QBs were just avoiding his side of the field and he wants to have an opportunity to make more plays on the ball.  I don't know if that means he will be able to move to S at the college level, but at least he will have some experience there.

Re: Class of 2016 - TrumpCard - 08-26-2015

I think Ulloa is the only remaining DB with an offer who is reasonably likely to commit.  Neither he nor any of the current commits is particularly tall.  Warner is quite tall, and it's not just a fake height listed on his profile.  You can see him use his height and arm length in coverage.  For that reason alone, I would be happy to have Warner, if he should want to come to Stanford.

Except David Long, who is simply too valuable at corner to move, any of the other CB commits could play safety, as could Buncom.

Has there been any story or account on how the Demitris Robertson visit went last week?

Trip was cancelled. I think we will not see him until he utilizes an official visit (and he probably won't receive an OV from us unless his academics are in line).

Re: Class of 2016 - TrumpCard - 08-27-2015

Position by Position break down of 2016 recruiting (not including LDS taking missions):

QB: Costello is committed.  No more needed.
TE: Smith is committed.  No more needed.
FB: McElwain is committed.  No more needed.

RB: Bisharat is committed.  Speights is likely.  Stephens could come too.  I don't see a need for all three.  Maybe there will be attrition due to academics or some other issue.  If not, maybe one of them will end up moving to a different position.  I don't expect to see any more offers here.

WR: No one is committed yet.  (Fehoko is 2018.)  I expect the staff to take at least two.  Stewart is likely.  The others who have offers and haven't eliminated Stanford are Crawford, Burton, Robertson, and Hardman.  Landing any of those four would be terrific.  If the staff whiffs on those 4, we probably will see an offer to someone like Croom or Boateng.

OL:  Yarbrough, Hattis, and Herbig are committed.  The staff could easily take one more.  Dickerson's interest level is unclear and Farniok seems to be headed someplace closer to home.  There are a number of possible stealths here, like Hamilton and Raridon.  I don't know if the staff would offer a Plan B recruit if the current options don't pan out.  Tatum, Niang, Gutwald, and Alves are possibilities, I suppose.

DL:  Williams and Peek are committed.  The staff needs a DE and could easily take a fourth DL.  The only guys who have offers and still are considering Stanford are Schaffer, Swann, and Rand.  (Bills doesn't count because he's going on a mission.)  If the staff doesn't get 2/3, we could see an offer to Kemp or Burton.

LB:  Robinson is committed.  Fox might end up counting as 2016 assuming academics work out.  I think the staff will take one more.  (Kaufusi doesn't count because he's going on a mission.)  The guys who have offers and still are considering Stanford are Kelly, McCulloch, Jones, Carmouche, and Simms.  Any of the five would be terrific.  If the staff whiffs, maybe we see an offer to Dublanko or Cassidy.

DB:  Long, Butler, Edmonds, and Antoine are committed.  Already a terrific class.  One more would be nice, especially someone with a bit more size than the current commits have.  Ulloa seems like a good possibility, but not necessarily likely.  Warner, Fuller, Pryts, and Okeke are possible, but I have my doubts that any of them will come.  There are also stealth possibilities here, like Harper and Rapp.  An offer to Eboh is looking less likely.

P/K:  I have my doubts that the staff will offer one this year, but an article by Lombardi on the battle for starting positions makes me less certain about that.  No mention of Beall at punter, FG kicker, or kickoffs.  If Beall doesn't pan out, then another scholarship player makes sense.
