What was the question and who was the player?
Played in and announced perfect game... Pee Wee Reese.

That was the date of Larsen’s perfect game. No idea what the question was. Maybe something like “were you happy with how you were pitching.”
These days some reporter would be like “walk us through what you were thinking as you pitched the game.”

Who was the oldest MLB home run champion? Darrell Evans, Tigers, 1985, age 38, with 40 HRs.
Who was the oldest Opening Day starting pitcher? Jack Quinn, 1931, Brooklyn Dodgers, was 47 years, 287 days old. It was the only game he started that year. He led the league in saves that year. After Quinn, it was Hough, Niekro, Tommy John, then Ryan.
Who were the oldest All Stars (pitcher and position player) Satchel Paige was a 47 year old All Star when he pitched for the Browns in 1953. Pete Rose appeared in the 1985 all star game at 44 years old. Carlton Fisk was the oldest to get a hit in an All Star game at age 43. Rose also holds the record for most positions played in an all star game with 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF in different games.

Small hints - he played on the winning team. Both PGs in my question happened after the ones mentioned above.

Alabama was the pre-season AP #1 ranked team for the ninth time this year. That’s only good for second. Which team has been the pre-season #1 team the most times, since the first AP poll in 1950?

Oklahoma? They had a long win streak in the '50s and ruled the Big 8 for years along with Nebraska.

Indeed it is Oklahoma, with 10: 1956, 57, 74, 75, 77, 85-87, 2003, and 2011
Others of interest: USC and Ohio State have 8 each, Nebraska and Florida State have 6 each, Notre Dame has 5.
Another bit of trivia. Six times has the pre-season #1 ended up I ranked (in the final AP poll), but only one team has done it twice. Who?

Now for a follow-up. The catcher for Barker's PG (with Cleveland in 1981) caught a 2nd PG ten years later with a different team. Not surprisingly, he is the only catcher to have caught 2 PGs. Who is the catcher and who pitched that 2nd PG with him?

I’m guessing the pitcher was Dennis Martinez but no idea on the catcher.
The Rules Committee took away a perfecto when they robbed Harvey Haddix of immortality. They also voided another perfecto. Who were the pitchers involved?

Was Babe Ruth one? I think he got thrown out of a game without throwing a pitch, then the subsequent pitcher tossed a perfecto.

Not the Yanks. Ernie Shore of the Red Sox. He had been a teammate of Ruth on the AAA Baltimore Orioles. Ruth argued with the short fused ump Brick Owens and was tossed along with the catcher. Ruth took a swing at Owens and was escorted off the field by the Fuzz. Shore took the mound and the base runner was caught stealing. Shore proceeded to retire the next 26 in order and for decades was credited with a perfect game. MLB changed the rules much later and now the game is classified as a combined no-hitter.

Shore was a terrific pitcher for Boston for 4-5 years. Then he went to WWI for the 1918, and lost his talent. He was a big fella for that time, 6'4", 220 pounds. Was a sheriff in North Carolina for many years. My wife's grandfather was a sheriff in Palo Alto during the same time period when it was a sleep little town and my grandfather was attending Stanford. My granddad had also come from a very small town in Idaho. I once asked him what the qualifications to be a sheriff in a small American town in the 1920s and he replied "Well, if you could take on four guys at once, you were the sheriff."
