On East Coast, went to bed when tied 3-3.
Early morning wake up to see the Indians beat the Indians?!
And wondering if too early to approach ACC with Clemson demanding more money or let us out of the ACC?
I dvr’d the game for later today

I don't either.
However, it appears like the traditional ACC teams really did not travel a lot. Not just in football, but in other sports too. I suspect 60-90 minutes of jet travel would have covered most road game trips. So when they have to fly for 4 or 5 hours into a different time zone, that is not typical for them. I would think a national program like FSU football would be OK with travel, but even they really don't go far. Their second longest trip this year was to UVa.
Online it looks like FSU fans believe Norvell needs to go. It looks like he survived the tarmac, but I wonder if he will be coaching for FSU in 2026.

Remember when FSU claimed Stanford was going to bring down the quality of the conference and all the culture war bs from their braindead fans?
Hope they never win another acc game. Same with unc.

I saw it pointed out somewhere that SMU, Cal, and Stanford are all in the top half of the ACC standings. The three schools that voted against them (Clemson, FSU, and North Carolina) are all in the bottom half.

The end zone PI against FSU near the end of the 1st half was a smart play. It turned what would have been a TD into a field goal.

Yes except in the 4th quarter FSU was playing better than Stanford. In the 4th we had 33 yards of offense total (27 running and 6 passing), punted on every possession, Elijah Brown went 1-5 with a sack, and we could not manage a first down when all we needed was one or two to run out the clock. I hate to see players get injured but Castellanos getting knocked out was likely the difference between FSU winning and losing, much more so than Gulbranson vs Brown.

I still can't celebrate this win, not with the injuries and knowing that FSU is a (jet lagged) mess and seeing Stanford nearly give the game away in the fourth quarter.
(I dare you to watch Mike Norvell's presser after the game. I'm not sure I've ever seen a person in front of a microphone look so miserable.)
If fans really stormed the field, that's a bit embarassing for Stanford. Oh yeah, the Stanford clock operator should be fired. You have to know the rules and stop the clock. I guess the argument is that the ref blew the whistle--allowing FSU to get set---because the clock stood at double zeroes for more than a bit, but I think the replay shows the clock actually had two seconds on it when the refs stepped in.
I just hope the players who left the field because of injury are able to make a full recovery.
If we must remember this game, the "Technical Difficulties" game is fairly apt.

There were more plays Saturday night that I'd like to erase (the plays that ended with obvious major injuries to Ford and Gulbranson, the dumb and ugly Leigber targeting, even the bizarre punt coverage mistake) than I'd like to remember (a sweet Tafiti TFL, the amazing CJ Williams catch and a nifty C. Tabb run or two come to mind). Simple as that.

Pitt, 5-2, is tough. Cal, also 5-2, is pretty good. We should beat North Carolina. With Brown at QB, our O will likely be predictable and modest at best. We should at least get to 4 wins.

Pitt beat Florida State by 3. They're traveling here, and Pitt hasn't traveled time zones (multiple) in many years. If it's an evening game, I think we beat them.
RE: FSU Game Thread -

There is a Reddit CFB post to the effect that two years ago, North Carolina, Clemson, and Florida State were the three ACC teams to vote against westward expansion. This weekend Cal defeated North Carolina, SMU defeated Clemson, and Stanford defeated Florida State.
Watching those teams flop around is fun for this ACC fan of 42 years. Karma's a bitch.
As to last night's game, I look forward to Matt's take. It might be fairly sober. I do fear we just hit our target for the year.
I suppose Stanford is about as good or as bad as the 'Noles and both are looking for coaches.
A few more specific thoughts:
1. Stanford was solid if not spectacular most of the night. FSU is a total mess, though.
2. Pretty clear why Gulbranson/Brown are QB 1 and 2. However Brown isn't that much worse than Gulbranson. I wonder if the message to him has been 'go elsewhere' or 'we'll develop you next year if we aren't developing someone else.'
3. Tough night for injuries. We sure can use Ford and that might be the best offensive lineman.
4. Feast or famine for the secondary. Excellent coverage mixed in with open targets for Castellanos, who overthrew some dudes. The last two penultimate defensive plays were awful coverage/technique. Awful.
5. Turtling is back baby! When they forced a turnover on downs to have the ball with a touchdown lead and 1:33 or 1:34 or whatever on the clock and FSU had three time outs, I figured they would gain maybe three yards and burn all of ten seconds. Pretty close.
6.
7. I'm glad they won. That type of collapse can be a nail in the coffin of a program barely alive. The kind of nail you would need to ruin the coffin to pull out.
8. Sorry to be harsh, but the day Stanford isn't relying on the likes of Mitch Leigber is a good day for the program. So stupid, so dirty. I see someone questioned whether that was targeting. Are you serious? Castellanos gave himself up and is on the ground. Knock a QB out and almost cost the game. I will grant that perhaps this is less malevolent intent and just a lack of skill.
9. Second time in as many of my teams' games that ACC replay got it 100% wrong on obvious calls. Also, even though the long pass into quadruple coverage should have been knocked down, there is no way in an honest world they should have put 0:02 on the clock and give FSU all the time they needed to set up for a play. Long downfield catch ten yards short of the goal line in the field of play with no timeouts launched at 0:09 is exactly what a team does not want. Hated that they ran a stupid plan and were rewarded by Stanford and the officials not doing it right.
Did he get in? I thought he did, but I was certain Stanford was choking the game away. Inconclusive and lucky the camera angles sucked. Honestly if FSU was undefeated and looking like the Bama victory was not a complete outlier, they might have gotten the call.
The Norvell watch began before the game when he was in a nice light grey suit with caramel brown shoes, which to this day I don't understand. (That pairing of shoe color with suit color. Never claimed to be fashion forward.) FSU has a bye coming up. That might be right. Bye.

I don't think that the replay official overturned a call all night, did he?
Sitting in the stadium without access to TV replays, it felt like we were waiting a LONG time each time.
And each time he just said that the call was "upheld". I like when the refs say "stands" or "confirmed" so we know if the call was really correct or we just don't have the TV angles to change the call.

Pitt is a very good team, well at times it is a very good team and at other times they 'Coug-it' or should I say 'Pans-it' since their mascot is the Panther. Anyhow at times they lose games they has no business in losing and at times beat teams that are superior to them. Kind of reminds me of some of the Stanford teams of John Ralston and Jack Christiansen, that would upset a top 10 team and then lose to somebody who was ten worse, but at least those Stanford Teams were .500 or better as compared to what has been going on for the last 5-6 years.

stuff like this matters to me. i think Andrew Luck has something to do with that. he seems like the grandpa who spoils his grandkids with toys and compliments.

FSU might have scored on that last play, but there wasn't video evidence to overturn the call on the field. To be fair, I don't think Castellano actually put the ball over the cone on the flying TD he scored. There was no good camera angle to overturn the call, but I think the ball was outside the cone when he swung it around. It looked good, but he was traveling east fast.
