This is a quote from the article evaluating all the teams. It sounds like volleyballmag.com has written off Stanford WVB for the spring season. They could be correct if Stanford doesn't find living accommodations outside SCC.
Stanford has canceled its first two weekends of play, likely to cancel more, and may never get in the mix.

On the topic of Covid, Plummer will not be on this year's Olympic team. The reason? Japan is preparing to make an announcement it is scrapping the 2021 games. I heard that on a news report. When I have time I will search for a link to post.

All PAC-12 teams are required to wear masks on the court; basically required to wear masks at all times during the match. According to an announcer this classifies the sport as medium risk and requires less frequent testing than if masks were not worn.

Today ASU 9th in the preseason poll beat # 2 Washington in 3. Wow
Ucla 4 beat Cal 11 in 4. Cal won the 2nd set 39-37

I must be missing something.
I think Hambly is a VB coaching genius; one of the best in the country. But trying to practice outdoors is just plain STUPID. It’s cold, it’s windy; it’s raining. An indoor team practicing outdoors in the elements in January is folly. The players are not getting better and much worse, players are going to get injuries.
Hambly should put all his effort into finding a gym just outside of SCC. Any gym will do. A high school gym. A YMCA gym. Any indoor gym with a wood floor. That’s all that is needed.
As a Stanford WVB fan I am getting frustrated. All the other PAC-12 teams are playing matches, getting game experience, and improving. Stanford is going nowhere.
WSU beat Oregon. Last year Oregon was dreadful. I watched some of today's match. IMO Oregon has less talent this year than last year, losing their two best front row players to graduation. Brooke Nuneviller must be kicking herself for ending up at Oregon rather than Stanford. At Stanford she would now have two NCAA championship rings.

Brent Couch, the head coach for USC, left last year to coach Auburn. What was he thinking?
This past fall (2020) Auburn under Couch's coaching didn't win a single match. Now half the team "opted out" so Auburn just announced they are cancelling their spring season.

All University of Michigan athletics are shut down for 14 days including WVB. The volleyball team will play its first match February 13 at the earliest.

Great to hear they get to play! Who knows how well they'll do with such a young team and so little practice time. Third place with one first place vote is awfully optimistic on the part of the voters. It'll be fun to watch them develop, regardless.

Thank you BobK for the information about the Arizona matches. I am pumped up. I have to confess in two weeks I will probably lose some interest in WBB because WVB is my one true passion as a Stanford sports fan.
Actually Arizona is the perfect team to start the season. Arizona is very young and inexperienced. I will be very surprised if Stanford doesn't come away from the desert with two wins.

Yes, this is 5 days old but IOC says there is no "Plan B."
Tokyo wants to hold it even if there are no spectators.
