What a game
The Fresno Bee seems to think they are going to start their usual closer, Jaime Arias.

Per the NCAA's nonsensical rules, Fresno is home tonight correct?

Can we come back to this please. What in the wide wide world of sports is going on? Anyone going to the athletic banquet next week? We will need a report.

Yes, I believe that's right.
The number of home and away games for each team in this regional will end up like this:
.......................Home............Away
#1 Stanford........2...................3
#2 UCSB............1...................1
#3 Fresno St......2...................2
#4 Sac St...........2...................1
So the #1 seed in this regional is the only team that was designated away more often than home. That makes no sense to me.

And looking at every other regional, the better seed is designated the home team for the final Game 7. I don't understand how that works.

I searched online for an explanation and found this on an SEC board - good luck applying the steps:
Quote:For the initial regional rounds of the tournament, the higher seeded team is always the home team. Once the initial regional round is completed, the NCAA uses the following three step process:
Step 1) The team has been the home team fewer times during the tournament becomes the home team.
Step 2) If both teams were the home team the same number of times, count the number of times each team was the visiting team during the tournament. The team that was the visiting team more often during the tournament becomes the home team.
Step 3) If both teams were the home team and visiting team the same number of times and the teams met previously during the tournament, the visitor in the immediately preceding game between the two teams becomes the home team.
Step 4) If both teams were the home team and visiting team the same number of times and the teams did not previously meet during the tournament, the team that was the visitor in its most recent, preceding game becomes the home team.
Step 5) If both teams were the home team and visiting team the same number of times, the teams did not previously meet during the tournament, and both teams were the visitor (or home team) in their most recent, preceding game, then the home team is decided by a coin flip.

2-0 good guys as Card finally convert on 2nd and 3rd with no outs (got worried there for a second they were
going to strand the runners).
RE: Baseball: Stanford Regional -
StanfordMatt - 06-03-2019
Brutal error from Tawa (his third errant throw of the series) lets the leadoff man aboard in the top of the 2. A double from Nogales puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out and Eager goes to the pen for Palisch. Short outing for Jensen, expect Palisch will have to throw multiple innings.
RE: Baseball: Stanford Regional -
JJJ - 06-03-2019
Since I thought Palisch was going to start, I guess 1.0 innings fewer for him is the net result. (I'm not sure he appreciates the runners on 2nd and 3rd though!!!)
RE: Baseball: Stanford Regional -

Tawa error proves costly as Fresno takes 3-2 lead. It’s pretty simple - we’re the more talented team but Fresno has played cleaner baseball through 20 innings. We will not win if we continue to make errors, run into outs on the base paths, take called third strikes and issue free passes.
Handley ties the game on a solo shot to LF on the first pitch of the 3rd inning. 3-3. Lets go!

At this rate, it might be first to double digits wins. Both teams' staffs are just exhausted at this point.

Agreed, I get the feeling the call stands no matter what was ruled originally. Nice to finally benefit from it...

We need to capitalize on this opportunity, and get some separation.

Christian Robinson = MVP of the night! 4 RBIs all with 2 outs. 9-5 now.
