Given his location and his offer from Northwestern, perhaps he'll make it to the season opener at NW and then an OV to Stanford so he'll get to see the team twice.

Is Swann any relation to former NFL DL Eric Swann?
And does his offer suggest things may be awry with Garret Rand? Stanford obviously could take four DL, but it seems unlikely they would take more than Peek, Williams, and Rand, no?
Potential 2016 DL: Watkins, Lohn, Phillips, Thomas, Jackson, Annan, Peek, Williams, Rand. Swann would make 10 DL. Not excessive, but maybe not necessary? And class balance-wise, probably not too wise to take four DL in the same class, though it's also possible some True Frosh will have to play in 2015 and 2016 just to make up for the early losses of Nwafor, Callahan, and Hayes.

I would say that we take all the quality DL that can qualify when we can. The problem used to be finding highly rated DBs with the academics and while that tide has turned, there are still issues finding 3-4 DL.
Also if we were to sign all of those players, it is also possible that Watkins and Lohn, if they dont contribute this year, may not receive a 5th year scholarship.

Offers at this point in the recruiting cycle are usually indicators that a primary target is no longer an option.

The fact that, this late in the process and already with prime offers, Carmouche decided to travel out to Stanford on his own is a very good sign. No need to do that unless you were really looking for an offer.

Kaufusi's offer list is not all that strong, but there are indications that he could end up being a good one. Here is some info on him:

Note that Kaufusi is a bit young for his class as he was still 15 when the Scout article came out last June. Also, I understand the family is LDS so he may be taking a mission, which would give him more time to fill out.

Like PL and Bobk said, Swann seems like a solid Plan B offer. Carmouche is a different story. His offer list, ratings, and film all scream Plan A. He's the kind of LB who has the coverage skills to stay on the field in a nickel package, which makes him extremely valuable.Â
I know it won't happen, but I would love to see Stanford land Stephens, McCulloch, and Carmouche. That would give Stanford 5 Texas natives in this class who spurned offers from UT.

I do have to say that a 4.6 (especially before senior year) seems impossible. I went to a great high school that offered plenty of honors/AP classes, and I took a challenging course load, yet I could not have had a 4.6 (or even close to it) even if I earned all As through my junior year (which I certainly did not). I guess the recent NYT article about extreme high school grade inflation was correct.
