There's rumblings on Twitter that we're in the hunt for Lucy Olsen out of Villanova. Wonder how much to read into that.

Yes, disturbing. The most generous take on this is that she and Kate both are pressuring Stanford admissions to open the door for transfers. I think USC with three Ivy leaguers--any of whom we would have wanted--may have created an imperative for change. The pessimistic take is that Iriafen will graduate and go play with Juju in her home town, earning a triple digit NIL, and probably winning a national championship in her final year of eligibility.
When I learned that she can graduate my hopes dimmed a bit. But best just to wait and see. Lots of discussions and maneuvers going on behind the scenes right now, for sure.

Well, you pretty much mentioned the perfect scenario for Kiki, that is, Juju and Kiki combining to be the top 1-2 punch in WCBB next season. WOW!

Well the hope is kiki gets Brink like NIL money. I believe we all hope and she stays.

So we may end up in an NIL bidding war with the L.A. schools for Kiki's services? (Betts and Kiki would be a good 1-2 punch also, especially with the front court UCLA has). Wonderful. I don't know if we can win that one.

Yeah, it wouldn't get much better for Iriafen. Graduate, go home to play with Juju and be a title favorite along with the other USC and UCONN. Or stay in place with uncertain talent, just as much cross country travel, and maybe scrap just to get in the tournament. It would take a large NIL differential to get past that if she cared about the money. Or maybe she just likes Stanford and the program enough to run it back.
Why can't she get Brink like NIL money in LA? I would think NIL opportunities are better at USC (or even UCLA) with who they have coming back, than at Stanford.
Man, this might be an actual rebuild job. No one accused Tara of not knowing what she's doing.

Maybe double or more Brink money in LA

Where are these money estimates in LA coming from? UCLa and USC have such better collectives than Stanford? How and why? Any sponsor can go after Kiki regardless of where she plays. I don’t fully get why the LA schools are thought of to be so much better. We have wealthy donors at Stanford!!

I don't know if I want to. The point at which we're bribing our players seven figures to get a free degree most people would cut off an arm to obtain is the point where I start looking for the exit as a fan of "college" athletics.

Just curious some one cut off their arm.
Where does seven figures come from ?

This is so profoundly messed up, and a complete corruption of the idea that athletes should be able to benefit from their name, image, and likeness rather than being paid to play for us or someone else.
Good for Iriafen for graduating and doing so in three years. She came to Stanford and got her degree. If she also earns a coterminal masters degree and plays for Stanford another year, that would be great, but I hope it’s not because we funneled a competitive amount of money to her.

Oregon State now with Hansford, Hunter, von Oelhoffen, Blacklock, Gardiner, and Pietsch in the portal. Brutal.
Plus, one has to assume that Beers is currently fielding offers. If Beers leaves, OSU only has six returning next year.
Update: Beers now also in the portal.

Don't worry, this will all implode sooner rather than later. Says the guy who once said: "I don't understand this at all [Google]. How does it make money? People are supposed to what, advertise on it? I give it a year. Two years tops."
