TCU beats GSU 3-0.
Interesting that Alvarez & Moreno, TCU's highly touted 1s, were pushed to a third set (DNF).

So far all going by seed.

Had been running pretty much on time, but Cal/Texas going to run over.  Cal up 2-1, 2s and 4s in the third set.

Cal had two dual points at the 4s and missed them.  I need to rewatch the end of that match.

Cal's 4s were up 9-4 in the third set, and let it get away, losing 15-17.

Stanford up next.

CalPoly swept LSU, so everything went according to seed.

Stanford vs. CalPoly tomorrow at 9am PDT.
The Cardinal beat the Mustangs 4-1 in SLO last month.

Note:  the NCAA bracket still shows this as 10am PDT, but earlier today they announced the starting time for the quarterfinals has been moved one hour earlier, due to anticipated weather.

Tournament is running late:  QF2 started about 7:15, and and at least three matches are going to a third set.

LMU knocked of USC 3-1.

QF3 (Texas vs. TCU) will start at 8:29.

In the CIFSS beach pairs championship, Ruby Cochrane (HS junior, entering Stanford in 2026) took second place (with partner Lucy Matuszak).  They lost 2-1 in the finals to the Junk sisters.

Along the way the knocked off another Stanford recruit, Taylor Ponchak (and Zoe Znider), who tied for fifth.

At the AVP Huntington Beach Open this past weekend, Stanford's Clara Stowell and alumna Kate Reilly went 4-0 in the qualifier to make into the main draw. Unfortunately they matched up with the #1 seed in the first round and were eliminated.

Alumna Xolani Hodel (with Teegan Van Gunst) was seeded 11th; they beat the #6 seed, but lost to #3 in the second round.

In the qualifier, recruit Ruby Cochrane (with Shayla Martinez) won their first but lost their second match.

ETA: Hodel will be playing in an FIVB event in China later this week, paired with Deahna Kraft.

USA Volleyball's Spring NTDP Spring Training rosters and coaches have been announced.
Andrew Fuller is an assistant coach with the Girls U17 team; Billy Allen with the Girls U19.

Charlotta Bell, Elena Fisher  and Avery Jackson are on the U21 team.

Mikki Carlin ('25), Olga Nikolaeva ('26), Taylor Ponchak ('25), Estelle Reese ('26), Simone Roslon (indoor '26) are on the U19 team.

Will Roslon play both?
Also noticed a Reagan Carlin on the U17 team.  Wonder if that's Mikki's sister?
