This ws the toughest acceptance I believe. Bodes well for Johnson and Warner
Curious why you think this was the toughest, Bob. At least according to the pundits at 247, he was leaning towards us for a long time, whereas they are all predicting Johnson and Warner go elsewhere.
Of course, I certainly hope you are right. Time for the D to get some reinforcements in this class.

I'm sure Bobk meant the toughest one to gain admittance, like Johnson and Warner are slam dunks if DWP was admitted. Remember, no recruiting service ever talk about Stanford admissions variable. We know that history says over 90% of admits end up committing.

Under his display picture it says "Stanford University '21"

Of course it also says "I will not play with you" in French right before the "Stanford '21". What's up with that?

Perhaps it means "I will not play games - trust the next words." Or maybe it is his decommit message for N.otre Dame.

Just a guess here but perhaps it is a French idiom meaning "I'm not kidding".

Any thoughts on DWP and his film? I was surprised to find that he rates as a mid 3*, but has an offer list that looks like a 4-5*, with all the SEC including Alabama, Michigan, OSU, etc. the same was true, to a lesser extent, of Stuart head.

I had the same question. Are DTs just so high in demand that even a non-elite one gets a lot of attention?

I think we are making the assumption that coaches pay a lot of attention to rankings when they decide who to recruit. Shaw says he pays none.

I'm not making that assumption. I'm not asking why Shaw/Stanford wanted him. I'm curious why he is in such demand despite being a mid-3 star. Perhaps no coaches care about ratings, which I would believe. And maybe the rating services don't care what offers players get, though I'd be more surprised by that.

My theory for DWP's 3-star rating may be because there is no category on the recruiting services for a true, over-the-center, both-A-gap-responsibility Nose Tackle in 5-2 and 3-4 front alignments. He is being rated as an 3-technique, outside-the-OGs-shoulder defensive tackle instead of a immovable fire hydrant that requires multiple blockers on a run play. Against DTs that have more agility and ability to break their block in a pass-rush, he may rate lower.

DWP has the 7th most DT offers in the class, and his list of offering schools is impressive.
Many talented guys in the Stanford class obviously, but DWP might be my favorite. His athleticism at that size is just uncommon. The highlight video shows him making tackles 20 yards downfield, unheard of for a NT. His short area quickness is cat-like, very light on his feet for how big he is. I hope Stanford uses him as a FB and even pass catching threat because and athlete like him can absolutely do that. Maybe Shaw can use DWP similarly to how Clemson has used Christian Wilkins, who has similar athletic ability.

Ndomekong Suh, but your point stands.
Hulk used to have a rating system based on who and how many offers a player has. DWP would rate highly on that scale.

Really excited about DWP. A year or two under Turley could make him a total monster.
I haven't been around here a full year yet. We flipped a bunch of guys last-minute last season (Pryts, Hamilton, Eboh, Harrington, Segina) - were people on the board aware of all of these happening before the fact? I know people knew of Adebo in this class, but is it possible we could come out of the blue and flip someone else?

I wonder if there is any chance of flipping Molden, or if the coaching staff is trying. Since he's been admitted, he could do it without much trouble. Also I wonder if he is noticing the other Pacific Northwest guys (Sarell, probably Wedington) who are signing on and perhaps thinking he might want to jump on the bandwagon.
