Irwin's commitment is big.  From watching some film on him, he seems to be an excellent route runner with great hands.

Does anyone think this would have any effect on Brady White going to ASU?  I know he doesn't have a reported Stanford offer  and who knows what his academics are/if he even applied, but he is a highly regarded QB who at one point was discussed as a backup offer to Rosen/Town.

Anyone with any insight?

Did we miss a commitment, or is this just more of the same speculation/misinformation we've seen repeatedly in the month leading up to signing day?

This reminds me of the Michael Rector situation a couple of years ago when he had committed to the University of Washington but everyone, even the newspaper columnists covering recruiting in Seattle, assumed that he was coming to Stanford, although he didn't say anything until signing day.

I don't think we're offering White at this point but I've seen stuff about him having a 4.0. Not sure if he's taken AP classes or what his SAT/ACT score was.

He might be, then, the highest rated WR recruit we've ever had.  Justin Armour was probably a 5*, but he was recruited as a QB.

Not sure what the name of the movie you're referring to, but there's this really weird bug that puts up a sunglasses emoticon when you put a close paren ) after an 8. The only way around this is to open the Attachments and other options link and select the Don't use smileys option.

I don't think it's a bug.  I think it is just the board autocorrect software that changes ASCII emoticons to their graphical equivalents.

So ': )' becomes :)
': (' becomes :(
and '8 )' becomes 8).

My opinion: Maihen will flip to Stanford if accepted. His dad is pro-Stanford (twitter tea leaves) and Austin's "favorites" indicate similarly as much as they can while being "committed" to another school.

He was very highly regarded coming out of Fountain Valley High School in Orange County. It's hard to compare Iriwn and Margerum, though, because I can't find any high school football player rankings that far back, and the only high school all-american team that I could find for 1977 (Parade) does not have any wide receivers on it. On the other hand, Margerum's daughters are named Sunny and Windy, so there's that.

I enrolled at the University of Santa Clara and graduated from Santa Clara University.  They changed the name my sophomore year.  I still have a t-shirt with U.$.C on it...

He must have been pretty good.  In 1988, the LA Times listed him as the best HS WR of the prior 20 years.  Also on that list was Chris Dressel, Emile Harry, Terry Albritton (Went the shotput route at Stanford), John LaGrandeur, Vin Mulroy, Andy Sinclair and Bo Boxold...all Stanford recruits
