After watching the Adebo highlights... holy smokes! That kid is explosive, fast, sudden and strong for his size. It does seem Stanford is recruiting him as a CB, but he sure could play WR too.

Why did this thread get in-pinned? I thought it stayed up top until NSD.

Speaking of unpinned threads, whatever happened to "Introductions"?
I think we have had a few new posters show up lately.
I always thought the Introductions thread made helped give this board its friendlier flavour.

Adebo was the stealth.  I though a familiar name to some

Any insight as to whether the plan is for him to play WR or CB?

I was thinking that since coaches are so restricted on what they can publicly say about recruits it will be interesting to hear Shaw's NSD presser, and see if he is referred to as a DB or WR

I can't imagine there will ever be a Shaw signing day presser with more intrigue than Feb 1.Â
Aside from publicly announcing the class, given the Chryst injury situation, Costello and Mills, and what looks to be quite an OL logjam, including the top two OT prospects in the country in this class, Shaw is going to be providing some interesting insights. Can't remember a year when a recruiting class seemed poised to have more influence over the coming season than this one.

You may be speaking tongue-in-cheek here, but I don't expect Shaw to say anything substantial about his expectations for next year. He will praise the new guys, say that some may play, and some will not, and who is who will shake out over the summer and early fall. And that is about it.

Remember that in 2012 we were waiting for Garnett, Murphy, and Peat to all announce on NSD. Hard to beat that for signing day drama.

As far as Mills is concerned, Shaw will probably say he is a great prospect; we hope to redshirt him so he can familiarize himself with the playbook. However, given the fact that Chryst may not be available he will be the third string guy so we will have to get him ready to play.

The 2012 presser and following LOI reception may never be beat

Agreed. Shaw's ability to recruit and the future of the program was in doubt, not just by us fans, but also recruits themselves. That was probably the reason for those top prospects not making final decisions. It's an easier decision nowadays so I don't think we go to the wire nearly as often anymore.
This year, however, does provide plenty of drama with the urgent need for DL (Johnson and Wade-Pery) and LB (Warner).

I think the recruits liked the drama. I get the sense that more players are committing earlier to us, but we are still looking at several players announcing on signing day (Wedington has stated he will.)

And I have no problem with this. Let them have their days in the sun. Of course, if I were a high school principal, in addition to the athletes, I'd also include my top students on the dais, complete with hats from Stanford and the Ivies and have them make their selections also. Wouldn't that be fun?

Great story. Thanks for posting. It's heartwarming to see that kind of persistence pay off - also liked reading about the father-son strategizing and plan execution.

On the other hand, 247's crystal ball predicts 86% Auburn, 14% Alabama for Ryan Johnson, with the most recent prediction for Auburn coming in yesterday. That would be quite a coup if RJ commits to Stanford!
