That's because you aren't looking for excuses to bash Shaw and be negative about the program.

Stanford safety target, Justin Reid, made official visits to Texas Tech and Oklahoma in the Fall. His stock recently took off, evidenced by late offers from Stanford and LSU and interest from UDFG. He now has official visits scheduled for Stanford, LSU, and UDFG on the last three weekends of January. The news is that Reid just tweeted that he scored a 30 on the ACT. Why is that important if he plans to attend Texas Tech, Oklahoma, LSU, or UDFG? Answer: It's not.Â

Auburn and Ohio St. Hope this is the end of the line, at least for the commitment thing.

As of now, the incoming class has 6 recruits (Scarlett, Chaffin, Wilson, Farrar, Edwards, and Barton) who were rated 4 stars by at least two of the major services (Rivals, Scout, ESPN, and 247). Arcega-Whiteside also appears to be a big-time recruit, except without the stars. Shaw still needs to close strong, especially at the NT position, but this is a good position for Stanford at the end of December.

Edwards might be the hardest hitting Safety Stanford has had since John Lynch. And he might be the hardest hitting Safety in the 2015 class as well. Not sure how good a tackler he is in space, one-on-one, but he really doesn't miss many tackles when he gets his hands on ball carriers. Not known as a ball hawk (just 3 INTs in his H.S. career), so a little surprised Stanford projects him as a FS.Â
In any case, sure would like to see him knock some pretty boy USC WRs out over the next few years.

With graduation losses (Richards, Olugbode) and potential losses (Hoffpauir), Edwards could see action at safety next season. Fingers (and toes) crossed that we can keep Duane Akina for at least one more year. We need a coach with his experience for a young secondary.

After watching some Ben Edwards Senior highlights, I was wondering what Arrington Farrar looked like as a Senior and found:

What struck me was seeing a level of speed and pursuit I don't seem to recall from his Junior video. It seems some questioned if Farrar had the speed to be a Safety and projected him as a possible OLB as a result. Based on his Senior highlights, it looks like he has really solidified himself as an elite Safety prospect, and that Farrar might even be a little underrated now as a result.
Edwards and Farrar seem poised to be Stanford's Safety tandem of the future, as soon as Whitfield and Hoffpauir have moved on.Â

There's always a surprise candidate somewhere lurking about.Â
But I love all the top prospects we can land. Looking forward perhaps to Buncom adding to the haul. Now we need some NT/DL, and maybe Bryce Love and one of the receivers to boost the offensive side of the ball. If everything comes together this could end up being quite a solid class.

Dallas Lloyd, Brandon Simmons, and Denzel Franklin will have something to say about that. Justin Reid will too, if he decides to come.Â
However, the competition might not be for just two spots. The nickel defense is well suited to the high flying offenses in the Pac-12, and I think Stanford will be so deep at safety that it will often end up playing one of the safeties as a nickel back.Â

The Under Armour All American game was today, featuring commit Brian Chaffin and recruits Iman Marshall, Christian Wilkins and Equinameous St. Brown. Wilkins blocked a PAT and ran it back for a touchdown. St. Brown's top three (as shown by Espn2) did not include Stanford. Are we still in the running for him?
Tomorrow is the Trent Irwin show at the Army All American Bowl (1pm Eastern on NBC).Â

Wow, I don't think I've read anywhere about Clemson being even in consideration for him. I'd heard mostly tOSU or PSU. That sucks a lot for us, I hoped his quiet demeanor and not talking at all about recruiting were pointing to Stanford, in a position he could have probably started at as a Frosh.\
I sure hope Donelly gets into school and commits.

Wilkins is a big loss. I hope Shaw lands Donelly, Jackson, and maybe one more. Maybe Saint-Amour if he commits can grow into a DE.
