And our pitching has been poor. But hand it to Noland; he's pitched really well. He does not have a big league fastball, but he's located really, really well and changed speeds enough not to get strikeouts, but to get grounders.

Clearly not our day. Oh well. Long climb from here.

We’re making contact. But we’re hitting them right at them.

Reverting to the commom pattern early in the season.

Ok, time for a 15 run, bottom of the ninth comeback, right?

Dang, we were stomped today.

Got ‘em right where we want them. Four in a row gets us to the finals.

The misery I feel right now is exceeded only by my admiration for the players, who have shaken off an early loss in a postseason tournament to come out victorious in the end. Twice. So I look forward to seeing them do it again.

Need to win 4 in a row... Then 2 outta 3.

RE: Stanford Baseball TO THE CWS! - BostonCard - 06-18-2022

If the auburn/ole miss score holds (ole miss is up 5-1), then all four of the seeded teams will be in the losers bracket.

This tournament has not been kind to seeded teams. With the seeded teams facing each other in the elimination games, we know that exactly 2 seeded teams will be alive after Monday.

better to just win our next six games as we might be out of arms by the seventh....

What pitchers? Used 6 against the hogs. Granted, only Williams is unavailable, but …

At least today the higher seeded team (#5 TAMU) is on track to beat out #9 Texas.

I thought I also heard during our have that Stanford has never gone 0-2 in the CWS. That's another good sign for us besides our recent record in elimination games.

RE: Stanford Baseball TO THE CWS! - chrisk - 06-19-2022

Temperature expected to reach 98 tomorrow. Will that help Auburn or will it mean they won’t be able to ride one pitcher for long either?

A lot of predictions had Texas winning the title.

If you are in the losers bracket you better have many arms. I don't think Stanford has enough.

RE: Stanford Baseball TO THE CWS! - chrisk - 06-19-2022

Palisch pitched 2 2/3 scoreless one-hit innings in the TA&M victory.

ESPN presented a grim stat during the game indicating that 36 of the last 40 CWS champions have won their first game.

Yeah, I heard that. A very tough road but not impossible.

Even if they fall short, it has been a great year...a fun team to watch.

RE: Stanford Baseball TO THE CWS! - JJJ - 06-20-2022

Phew, Drew Dowd gets us through T1 after going 3-0 to the leadoff hitter.
K, F8, K (Huff had to make a long throw from the backstop to complete the K).

I wonder if anyone else just noticed what the announcers brought up.  They showed how Ben McDonald was coach of Trace Bright when he was on a travel team.
If you are a Stanford fan and don't know the Ben McDonald connection, see below.  One of the greatest moments in CWS history.
