I think there's a good chance of that. Hambly is scheduling very tough non-conference. Don't think he would do that unless he's feeling good about the team. To my knowledge all of the roster should be healthy at the start of training camp although realistically there will be some injuries during the season.

Thanks very much MT and bnarver for these updates, which are great. I don't understand why there isn't an official web site with real time updates on the standings in order to engage more fans in the Director's Cup race. Anyway, understanding that various sports are still going on, if Stanford advances to the CWS and wins some games there, is it possible for us to prevail in the overall racel?

We all thought we were going to lose the Directors Cup in 2013 too. To Florida. And then Nicole Gibbs and Kristie Ahn happened. To Florida.
I'm just sayin'.....

USC winning T&F will get them up to 108. I believe Stanford has more yet to be tallied top 10s than USC, so it should be fine. Oklahoma beat Florida State in the WCWS, that was critical. On the men's side the CWS trip for Stanford could prove important.
The Credit Card Cup has always been awful with updates and/or providing a schedule for updates. So had no doubt this year would be more of the same.
The NACDA is usually pretty good about mid-year updates, but this was obviously a very different year. Now that only baseball is left, it should be easy enough for the NACDA to confirm that Texas has clinched the title. If Texas' MOTF & WOTF results together with their baseball team's current minimum get them to a point total Stanford will be unable to match, I expect the NACDA will be quick to announce that in a press release. For 2+ decades they likely have dreamt of this day, so I am confident they will try to hype it up. Potentially the hype will arrive as soon as Monday.
:(

It seems like the Capital One people have a deal to promote their Cups on ESPN, since they're the ones talked about during the various national tournaments. But I wonder if the mothership will also acknowledge the Directors' Cup once Texas wins.

Further updates after T&F. I may be off by a few points because of ties in the spring sports and how I pulled the scores from 2018-2019.
If the Director's Cup counted all sports, Stanford would win by more than 150 points, but Stanford loses 258.50 points by having too many good teams.
But under their limited sports scoring, Texas will win by 20 to 80 points.
As I have it, Stanford's minimum score (after baseball's win today) is 2 points higher than North Carolina, but that is within the error range for my estimation without considering the effect of ties. (oops. I had a score wrong)
To clarify, the 50 points from Softball will count. The notation below is to account for dropping 48 points from M. Sw.
Edit: Moved 6th in Rowing from UNC to Ohio St. & added in W O T&F for UNC

A baseball championship would go a long way towards taking the sting out of losing the Cup. I'd take that deal.
And I guess we'll just have to start a new streak.

The NACDA methodology has always been rather arbitrary, so it was inevitable that the NACDA would eventually find a formula that would get a different school to the top.
In this academic year dominated by COVID-19 I was thankful the AD was able to extend the annual NCAA team title streak. It is clear, it is objective. And it will take decades for any other school to even approach the current run.
Given all the challenges with trying to keep an athletic department viable in SCC during COVID-19, this year for the AD could have been much worse.

Good job, MT. A couple of corrections. N. Carolina did not score in rowing. That belongs to Ohio St. The score needs to be subtracted from N. Carolina's total. It has already been included in Ohio St.'s score even though it isn't listed. Also, I believe Stanford might receive only 73 points in baseball, so their minimum would be 1190.75. Other than that, we differ only by a point or 2 mainly in the T&F in the ties.

Olympic years also seem to impact Stanford because we lose players in several sports to Olympic teams or training in the hope of making Olympic teams. I don't know if that is quantifiable this year or any year, but it seems we usually need an extra cushion to overcome the loss. With COVID-19 restrictions, the two year Olympic loss, and a bad year for injuries to some sports that usually score well, this year is one where we are most likely to not win. I hope we will be a lot closer to our usual level next year.
And I know it's not the end of the world and most college sports fans don't care, but I do and will be sad if/when we don't win.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Thanks for catching that. I also added back in UNC's W O T&F as the 15th event. I've corrected it in the
post above.
You did the major work on this. Did you figure out the correct scores in face of ties for all spring sports?
The difference between N. Carolina & Florida and between UCLA & Ohio State are within the error for ties.
There are so many what-ifs. I didn't realize until now that the top three teams tied in points in Rowing. The tie-breaker was varsity eights where Texas beat Stanford by 1.5 seconds. Change that (or if Stanford placed better in any event), and it is a 20 point swing (theoretically enough to win the cup, pending baseball).
Stanford scoring in 6 sports was dropped. Texas had none dropped. Drop one less and the winner would be whomever gets more points in baseball (Texas, if they tie).
Obviously there are the sports we are normally among the top, but we didn't even make the tournament. But with the dropping of scores for this cup, we would have needed to finish pretty high if we only had scored in one non-WVB sport. (for instance, a net of 30 points if we got 4th in W SOC) But a 17th place in WVB would have added a net of 50 points. MBB is another sport we could have gotten 25 points if we had made the tourney.
By the way, Texas won the first game of their super-regional with a bottom of the 9th inning run after 2 outs and an error. Ouch.

All I can say is that it took a global pandemic to unseat Stanford from the Director's Cup. Maybe now they won't be so eager to change the rules in order for some other school to win it.
RE: Directors' Cup will be awarded for 2020-21 -

NACDA has had lots of scoring changes through the years. When they first started, 1st place was worth 64 points, 2nd was worth 63 points, 3rd was worth 62 points, etc. The difference between coming in 11th instead of 1st was 10 points. That's typically the difference between 1st and 2nd now. Points were awarded based on each institution's finish in 22 sports--nine core sports for men, nine core sports for women and two wild card sports each for men and women. The core sports included, for men--baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and track and field; and for women--basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
I'm not sure when they switched over to 100 points for 1st, but it was prior to 2001.
Beginning in 2002-3, there were 4 significant changes in the scoring. (1) Minimum Bracket Sizes -- Previously, all sports in which the NCAA offered a championship were included in the standings. This year, championships had to have a minimum of 12 teams in the championship field to be included in the standings. (2) Maximum Bracket Sizes -- Previously, points were only awarded to the top 64 teams in each championship (65 in Division I men's basketball). Now, a minimum of five (5) points were awarded to any team that competed in a recognized championship. All teams that placed 65th or lower were given 5 points. (3) Points Awarded -- The amount of points awarded in the team and individual brackets were modified. First place for all sports remains the same at 100 points. However, points awarded in the team brackets were increased. The minimum points awarded in a sport scored from the team bracket was now 25 (up from 20 previously. (4) Track and Field -- Only one result for track and field will be included in the standings, either the indoor or the outdoor results. The result in which the school receives the most points was used.
The rule on at least 12 teams participating in tournaments lasted until 2004-5. The rule for T&F lasted until 2006-7 when both sports could be counted.
Then in June 2005, NACDA tried reducing the value of some sports (men's and women's lacrosse, field hockey, women's gymnastics, and ice hockey) by 50%, so 1st was only worth 50 points, etc. That didn't go over well at all and was quickly switched back for 2006-7. Note that in the Capital One Cup, both men's and women's lacrosse are worth 3x most other sports. I've never understood that.
Things stabilized at that point to counting any 10 women's sports and any 10 men's sports with all sports counting equally with the winner receiving 100 points. Other team points depended on how many schools participated in the tournaments.
In 2017-18, NACDA switched to the current arrangement of 4 mandatory sports counting (women's volleyball and basketball, men's basketball and baseball) and any other 15 sports, regardless of gender.
