I would imagine that the money-making machines in Hollywood are wishing they could get the kind of publicity for their marquee names that ESPN is pouring onto Bueckers.  Imagine how much that PR would be worth to get Oscar votes or other awards, plus viewers.

After watching Oregon State and South Carolina, I don't think South Carolina is a bad matchup for us.

Rueck gave somewhat of a blueprint for stopping South Carolina defensively - sagging off heavily on a few of their players and forcing them to shoot threes, just not enough offense or post play with Taylor Jones being out so long.

Brink vs. Boston would be a fun matchup -- I could see Brink getting a lot of layups running the floor.

Oregon and Georgia should be a good one today. I'm not quite sure Oregon has the ball handlers without Pao Pao, but we shall see.

She is worth the effort.  What a phenom.  She never stops moving and has mad skills.

Maryland playing Alabama right now -- looks really, really good. Scored 30 points in 1st quarter -- at 6:20 in 2nd, score is 38-16. Glad they are not in our bracket!

Yeah, I've been scared of Maryland since watching them play a couple of months ago.  The knock on them is their defense, but today they are shutting Alabama down.

Well Missouri State beat Maryland this season and they are potentially our next round opponent.. hopefully Stanford plays much better and continues to get better... Althoughy it’s hard, I’m trying not to focus on other teams and how they are doing and just want Stanford to keep winning.

Watching the Mo St - Wright St game, and they both look bad. I'll be surprised if we don't defeat the winner of this game by 20+.

Dux - GA is an enjoyable game. Too many quack turnovers have helped Georgia be tied at halftime.

Oregon looking slightly better, but the game truly is a toss up.

Tonight's the night that the lights went out in Georgia.  Ducks advance to the sweet 16.

Any word on the status of Paupau for the Sweet 16?

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - martyup - 03-24-2021

Louisville is getting smoked by NW!

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - PVTree - 03-24-2021

She's expected to be out for the whole tourney.

Watching Louisville-Northwestern, the wildcats looked very good in the first quarter and lead 25-10. They look quick and are blocking many shots despite being a "small" team. Can they keep it up?

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - WBB fan - 03-24-2021

Glad to see the Ducks win -- that's 2 Pac-12 in the sweet sixteen -- hope it's 4 by the end of today!

Northwestern 32, Louisville 20 at halftime.  Louisville is shooting only 27% and has 11 turnovers. I'm not convinced NW can keep it up, but . . .

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - martyup - 03-24-2021

I like the Ducks' chances against either of these teams.  Prince is playing really well.  I would love for us to face the Ducks again.

After watching the Louisville game, I really like our chances of winning our region.  The final four matchup with Maryland (assumed) . . . tough one there.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - BostonCard - 03-24-2021

Louisville seemed to have woken up in the second half; they outscored NW 42-21 in the second half, to overcome a 32-20 halftime deficit.  NW had a 40 - 28 lead in the third quarter, and Louisville went on a 15-0 run that doomed the Wildcats.

I'm inclined to agree re Louisville, but on the other hand, other teams might feel the same way about beating Stanford after watching last night's game. Question is, was this Louisville's "C" game or their "A" game?

Louisville had to dig themselves out of big hole in their first game too.  I really don't care how other teams feel.  Every team will try to bring their best game.  I just like our chances to win our region.  After that, I'm scared.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - 81alum - 03-24-2021

In watching South Carolina I was not unduly impressed with their offense, but they were able to turn up their defense and win with that.

The same was true with Louisville.  They looked pretty bad against Northwestern, but they turned up their defense and held NW to 7, 8, and 13 points per quarter in the last three quarters.

Defense is reliable even if hot shooting is not.  Those two look like strong defensive teams.  So is Baylor.  Strong defensive teams worry me since our offense is a "rhythm" offense which can be disrupted, as it was last night.

For some reason Maryland does not scare me as much--I think our defense will be good enough to slow them down, and their defense won't be as big of a threat to our offense.

Watching Arizona vs. BYU--pretty even game so far.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - BostonCard - 03-24-2021

Meantime, Arizona is struggling with BYU (down 25-23 as we approach halftime).  McDonald is 2/7 (0/2 from 3) with 5 points.
