I don't have a better source for this statement, and it's from yesterday, so take it for what it's worth.

The county's announcement had a specific start time (Monday 12:01AM), so I don't think there is any grace period.  It was announced before likely travel by San Diego.  You'd have to have an exemption for the game and for hotel stay.  I doubt it.

The San Diego site (and twitter & facebook) has no mention of a Stanford game (as of Sunday 2:30PM).  Stanford's site still lists it, with no cancellation.

I tend to agree with that, but I still see the game scheduled on a number of websites.  Those sites may not have the latest information.

A definitive decision had to be made by Stanford by Saturday at the very latest.  With no specific announcement, why the mysterious cone of silence around the cancellation?

Monday’s game is cancelled per her quotes in a Merc story

RE: WBB: The Race to the Summitt - BobK - 12-06-2020

The Davis game has to be iffy at this point. The Davis team can’t leave the state without a quarantine upon return

I wonder if it can be played at Davis. I didn't check if Davis has another event scheduled.

Can Stanford even reenter the state without quarantine to play Cal and their other scheduled road games?

RE: WBB: The Race to the Summitt - BobK - 12-06-2020

Cal yes right now but must quarantine in Davis from out of state

RE: WBB: The Race to the Summitt - petersalas - 12-06-2020

It cannot be played at Davis because the men and women cannot play due to Yolo County bad, such as in Santa Clara county.. their two home games have been cancelled.

Ugh. Stanford vs. Davis at Cal? I suppose probably not.

RE: WBB: The Race to the Summitt - petersalas - 12-06-2020

Not a bad idea.. unless Stanford is scheduling an alternate game in Las Vegas.

Crazy idea: why not fly out the Tennessee women's hoops team to Las Vegas so there we can all honor and celebrate Pat and Tara -- and put it on espn for good measure?

Great idea, if they could do it. Where's that Bing Arrillaga money when you need it? Get them a private plane and it could even be covid safe!

Do you really think that Tennessee will willfully participate in a rival coach's breaking of your icon's record?

I think if Pat were still around, she would be happy to see Tara break the record. The two had a deep respect for each other.  (And if anyone is going to break it, I suspect that Pat would have much preferred it to be Tara rather than Gino,)

It would be foolish, IMO, if they were offered and declined for that reason.   It's going to be broken.  Either you can be there to celebrate Pat or not.

I bet we aren't the first to think about it.

I'm sure some have thought about a match between UConn and Stanford.   I could see why UConn might back of that, but I bet they wouldn't.
