Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - FarmBoy - 09-01-2016

THe Pac12 bloggers are picking Pac12 in all games except 'SC and OSU. It's kind of weird that all of the picks this week are unanimous. I don't know the line on all the games, but last I looked UCLA vs. A&M is pretty close, so that one jumps out in particular.

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - TriangleTree - 09-01-2016

I predict a slow, painful, and frustrating start, and irrespective of the final score, lots of concern next week about our team not being as great as we anticipated.

The talent is there, but Shaw-led teams tend to be slow starters until things start to click and become world class. On top of that, K State is one of those teams that you know will be extremely well prepared and disciplined.

There's just something about purple wildcats team combined with overconfidence and a new offensive line that scares me. I think someone wrote in another thread that the season *really* begins with USC the following week...

In any case, our defense keeps us in the game and we manage to salvage overtime where we finally overcome and avoid purple wildcat lightning for a second year in a row: Stanford 23-20 (OT)

For another thread perhaps, but does anybody else think USC will give Alabama all it can handle? USC has the talent and they play very well early in the year.

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - fullmetal - 09-01-2016

K-State will go all out for a marquee win to start the year.  Stanford will hold onto its offensive cards and try to survive the first of many games in a season-long quest.  It should be a little nerve-wracking before Shawgren get the playcalling right.

I find these consecutive posts very entertaining, given the second author. :)

This is the only game where at least a majority of the Big 12 bloggers didn't pick the Big 12 team to win.

Have our WildCat visitors posted predictions?

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - admin - 09-01-2016

Mauser did, but DC Cat did not. I would love to hear from him, even if it's we're going to wipe the rug up with you guys! (We play on grass, but...)

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - DC Cat - 09-01-2016

After a pregame filled with announcers on their knees for CMac, the game starts out rough. K-State gets a field goal on the first drive and is held to a three and out on the second. In the same time Stanford scores two touchdowns. The rest of the first half shows that the defenses came to play and the new QBs struggle. Halftime score: Stanford 17 K-State 10.

Stanford fans and K-State fans alike are unsure what to expect but are able to enjoy a halftime show that pokes fun at the midwest. While the Stanford band makes us all laugh, The Purple Wizard is scheming up an incredible second half strategy.

Out of the gate Stanford can't move the ball at all, much to the dismay of the home crowd. CMac just can't seem to find any room to move. Jesse Ertz starts to find his stride and the K-State offense starts to look like it deserves to be on this field. But, Stanford has made some adjustments too. Their DLine is giving the young front from KSU a lot to handle, and the game drudges on.

Entering the end of the fourth quarter the score is knotted at 27. K-State has the ball but is unable to move anywhere near field goal range. The punt sails well and deep and CMac looks to have some open field. He makes it all the way to the opposite 20 as the crowd goes wild. On the first play Burns drops to pass. CMac is heavily guarded but Burns spots a wide open receiver. Confident he brings his arm forward. . .but what is this? Will Geary has broken through the line and makes contact with Burns as he throws. This sends the throw off target and into the hands of Dante Barnett. Dante races down the field and is almost to the endzone when he is caught from behind and tackled by CMac.

Barnett pops up excited and runs to celebrate with his teammates. CMac tries to get up but settles back down. Something is wrong. Stanford fans watch in silence as he is carted off the field. They barely notice the field goal unit trot on the field and are in despair as the clock runs out and Matthew McCrane's kick flies through the uprights.

Okay, he should be banned for that post.  >:(  That's not funny, just downright mean spirited.

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - CowboyIndian - 09-01-2016

Really? You're calling an injury? GTF out of here!

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - CornFed - 09-01-2016

That was in truly bad taste.  Really?  A fantasy scenario in which our most revered player is injured on the final play of the game?  That sucks.

Woofing gods - Note!!!

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - terry - 09-01-2016

Wow, that was a despicable post.

Re: Stanford Kansas State prediction thread - SeattleTree - 09-01-2016

This is the same fan base (based on an admittedly small sample size of posters here) who said Travis Ochs facemask against Eric Crouch, which nearly beheaded him, was the best no call ever.

Predicting an injury to any player, let alone a star player? Pathetic. May the woof gods take note and May CMac run free all night long.
