Re: Class of 2017 - DC 86 - 01-07-2017

Army All America game:

Sarell announced for Stanford, very articulate as expected.
Announcers said that Little was the most impressive OL during the week, praised his mean streak.
Colby Parkinson caught a pass from Dylan McCaffrey early.

Re: Class of 2017 - larkinforever - 01-07-2017

This Mills' quote from earlier this week (previously posted) made me feel good about Sarell: "I was recruiting Walker Little hard and now we are both recruiting Foster Sarell. It’s looking good right now, no promises but it’s looking good."

Yeah. I think one of the reasons we got him is that he bonded well with the other top recruits.

Great hearing the announcers say "for these type of (high academic) kids, Stanford is the Alabama or Ohio State for them".

I get the feeling he won't  be too successful with that in college....

OTOH - ARN with Foster aboard - WOOHOO! So he and and Little were in together at LT and RT in a number of series, maybe a harbinger of things to come? FS did struggle with a speed rush from the edge on a couple of plays but looked solid otherwise.  Didn't actually  see any catches by Parkinson while I was tuned in but he ran routes pretty smoothly and showed good speed.

No surprise but FANTASTIC

A few sour grapes in the comments, LOL.

PS, what is the SID in charge of social media doing in San Antonio?

They can tweet bile all day long. All week long - Redrum - 01-07-2017

All year long.  Love it.  Means we're winning.

Re: Class of 2017 - BostonCard - 01-07-2017

One time prospect CB Darnay Holmes picked UCLA.  No surprise, as we had been excluded a while ago (sounds like due to academics).

Re: Class of 2017 - larkinforever - 01-07-2017

I was curious how much Sarell's commitment would change our 247 team recruiting ranking. This morning (pre-commitment) we were ranked #49, now we are #28.

Re: Sarell to the Good Guys! - rudruff - 01-07-2017

Appropriate levels of angst over this commitment in other parts of the cfb world.

One thing you can always count on in these situations is a fair number of yahoos showing up and making stupid comments.

Re: Class of 2017 - BostonCard - 01-07-2017

We are now tied for third with Alabama in average star rating (4.0).  Only Ohio State and Alabama have more 5* players than the three we have, and only 4 teams have more top-100 players than we do.

What we lack in quantity, we have more than made up in quality.

Here's the hat ceremony...

I love that all his family whipped out Stanford hats after he picked Stanford.  I will admit to being a little nervous that Stanford was the furthest one away from him.

I very much enjoy the "Your students/alumni don't care" type comments. Ok, let's assume that's true -- then why would they care about your salty insults?

I was too, but UW who most considered the other most likely school he was going to choose was also the next farthest away from him as well.

Vey much looking forward to more good news next weekend during/after Big Visit.  Hoping to hear about commitments from guys on the other side of the ball too.

We're also third -- behind Ohio State and Georgia, ahead of Alabama -- in average recruit grade, per 247: http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CompositeTeamRankings

1. Ohio State 95.93
2. Georgia 93.38
3. Stanford 93.28
4. Alabama 92.89
5. Clemson 92.13

Isn't the big all-star game in San Antonio?  (can't remember if it's UnderArmour or something to do with the Army)

Anyway, this is tremendous news and we now have two great recruits at a big position of need.

More reason to make Bloomgren a full-time OL coach and bring in a new OC to revamp the 10000-page playbook.

Even better, I think we're actually tied for second in average star rating (4.0) with Alabama (behind only Ohio State). And, given this is our small class size year, average star rating or average recruit grade is definitely the better way to see how we stack up.
