Looks like the tweet began with someone who bleeds purple and gold so it's possible it is true. Hopefully it is.
Foster's stated goal to be the best he can would seem to be consistent with a decision to attend Stanford. The easy way would be to choose the school that is just a half an hour's drive up the road.

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 12-31-2016

If Stanford lands Sarell, Stanford could possibly be the only school in the country with two Rivals Top 10 recruits.

Does he announce at the Army game?

Yes, that's the plan.

With Little we would have 3 in the top 25. Wonder if we have ever done that before? Possibly with the Murphy/Garnett group.

Re: Class of 2017 - Phogge - 12-31-2016

Before there were stars possibly Washington, Broughton, Snider and Buehler.

In those days about all we had was the Scholastic Magazine HS All American team, which IIRC consisted of 50-60 players. Buehler made it, Snider and Washington were honorable mention, and Broughton was not mentioned.

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 12-31-2016

OK, let's look at this potential class in the making:

QB: Mills
OT: Little, Sarell
OG: Dalman
TE: Parkinson, Fisk
WR: St. Brown
ATH: Wedington
RB: Lund
DT: Wade-Perry
DE: Johnson
LB: ?
S: Head
CB: ?

Bold = admitted and committed

Bobk says there is a secret stealth, but have no idea what position.  It would be nice to land another WR, but clearly the needs are on defense for the remainder of the class, even if Sarell goes elsewhere.

Really was hoping for one of LB Nate McBride, CB Darnay Holmes, S Jeffrey Okudah, OG Wyatt Davis, or OLB Jaelen Phillips.  Also would have liked WR Tarik Black and OG CJ Thorpe.  But getting DT Wade-Perry and DE Ryan Johnson would be very good consolations.

Ohio State is bringing in another monster class, projected to get CB Holmes, S Okudah, and OG Wyatt Davis, among as many as nine possible 5 stars.

Re: Class of 2017 - Hurlburt88 - 12-31-2016

Is Little missing from this list?

Re: Class of 2017 - rudruff - 12-31-2016

Little was listed as Walker.

Based on the last couple of years, I would hope our stealth recruit is a D-Lineman. We seem to be short on bodies every year.

Re: Class of 2017 - Langdude - 12-31-2016

How many scholies are available? Seems like a small class. Maybe this was already addressed.

Add the 2 returning from missions.

FB              Houston Heimuli  (2015 commit returning from a mission)
OLB/DE      Gabe Reid  (2015 commit returning from a mission)

Somewhere around 15

Re: Class of 2017 - ChicagoCard - 12-31-2016

I suppose if players are returning from missions then it is all the less likely they will play that first year.

I don't follow recruiting closely but in my curiosity about running backs post-McCaffrey, I think I just learned that there are two different running back recruits that share the name Heimuli. Is that right?

Yes, they're cousins. (Though Sione Heimuli-Lund sometimes goes by Sione Lund, the last name of his adoptive family. I'm not sure which surname he prefers.)

Re: Class of 2017 - ChicagoCard - 12-31-2016

Thanks.

Re: Class of 2017 - BobK - 12-31-2016

LBer Leonard Warner as of now plans to be here for the Big Visit.

Class will probably be 15-16

We have two prospects who will go on a mission

We have Sarell and Wedington admitted as we have done discusssed.

Of course we are 100% with Admissions and that may not last. We will know a lot in the next 2 weeks

Keep in mind next year's class will be equally small

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 01-02-2017

Been thinking Walker Little (or Foster Sarell) could start at Tackle for Stanford in 2017.  Here's a report from day one practices for the Army Game:

Alpha Dog

With the race for the No. 1 player in the country still very much up for grabs, Stanford offensive tackle commit Walker Little made a monstrous statement on Monday that he should be that guy. He didn't lose a rep in one-on-ones. In fact, he was dominant. Little trusts his size and trusts his technique without fail. His day one effort was the best single day offensive line showing I've seen in an all-star game setting.

This is from Barton Simmons, who has covered recruiting for many years.

If that quote wasn't enough, check this out.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwSmV-XUpsE

Walker Little, possibly the #1 OL in the country, and Marvin Wilson (6-4 330), possibly the #1 DL in the country, incredibly, play on the same high school team.  So Little has been getting reps against the best DL around, and by all accounts gets the better of him.  Little weighed in at 6-6 3/4 and 318 at the Army game.  I'm really thinking he's going to start at LT as a True Frosh for Stanford in 2017.

I know Andrus Peat eventually started as a Frosh, but Little could be the first to start from day 1 as a Frosh since, who, Bob Whitfield?

Re: Class of 2017 - CompSci87 - 01-03-2017

Walker Little and Foster Sarell: two guys who are so big that they each need two surnames.

Conor Wedington - JohnR34231 - 01-03-2017

Although everyone seems to think he's coming to Stanford, looks like he is going to make us wait until signing day to find out for sure.
