Conforto hasn't had a big hit in forever, or just a hit, but at least he's doing better than Haniger. And, Chapman, an amazing fielder, must be trying for a personal strikeout record.

I'm going to cut across the grain. Several of the Giants fielders are ramping up, and most who were off to hot starts haven't fallen off much. Ray and Snell are revelations. And the Giants have the easiest remaining schedule (especially post-Dodgers), with opponents winning a collective 46.3% of their prior games.
I analyzed the remaining series, as follows:
RRGT (Really, Really Good Teams). Brewers (58-43), Orioles (60-40). 9 games, 6 away. We need to win four of the nine games, plus the last Dodger game tonight.
RGT (Really Good Teams). Royals (56-46), Braves (54-45). 3 away, 3 home. We need to win 4 of 6.
Good teams (like us). Mariners & Padres (53-50), Cardinals (53-48), Arizona (52-50), Detroit (50-52), Cincinnati (48-53), Washington (47-54). 9 home, 16 on the road. Need to win 17 of 25.
RBT (Really Bad Teams). A's (41-62), Rockies (37-65), Miami (36-65), White Sox (27-27). 10 at home, 2 away (A's). We need to go 11-1 or better here.
That's 37-22 overall, giving the Giants an 85-77 record. DBacks and Marlins got in with 84 wins last year.

Agreed, big sell...after the season. This team was built to accelerate post ASB. The time is now, and right now, the Giants should be buyers. Get Vladimir Guerrero, JR. Toronto will be sellers.
Caveat: If they Giants want to get rid of Casali, Conforto, Estrada, Davis, Flores, Lee (for the right price), Schmitt, Murphy, Villar, Doval, Hill, Hicks, Winn, Rogers (Ta), Jackson, Black, Teng, Baumann...I'm good with it. Keep the rest.

Ernie Banks would enjoy today. Snell pitches game 1. Hayden Birdsong in game 2. Two more wins gets the Giants to 52-55. The Padres have the last playoff spot, and in between the Giants and Padres are the Reds, Pirates, Diamondbacks and Cardinals. The Pirates and Diamondbacks play each other today. Cardinals have the Nationals at home, Reds are at Tampa Bay.
BTW, still fascinated by Joey Bart's transition to the Pirates. He's still 2nd on the Pirates in OPS, right behind another former Giant, Bryan Reynolds. Two more former Giants, Andrew McCutchen and Connor Joe are #6 and #7 in OPS on that team. I know Yasmani Grandal is the putative starter, and Henry Davis and Grant Koch are also catchers. Those three have three of the worst four OPS averages.

Second win in a row, 4-1 win, Snell struck out 15 in six innings, most K's by an MLB pitcher in six starting innings ever. Don't trade him, Farhan. Walker got the win, he's 7-3, Doval got his 19th save, Chapman was 3 for 4 with an HR. Stanford's Erik Miller was warming up after Doval got into a little trouble, my guess is we see Erik in game 2 of this doubleheader.
Hayden Birdsong starts game two.
Fun fact: SF Giants have the sixth best fielding percentage in MLB since June 1 (.989). First 58 games of the season, the Giants averaged .67 errors per game, next 47 games, the Giants have averaged 0.40 errors per game. Quite an improvement.

Hayden Birdsong got his third win, he's 3-0. Struck out eight in five innings. Erik Miller struck out two in one inning, and feelgood story Bivens closed it out.
Giants now 4.5 back of the last W/C spot. They passed up the Reds today, so the Pirates, Cardinals and D'Backs are in front of them. Currently, the Braves, Padres and Mets hold the three W/C spots.
Giants have Colorado again, Jordan Hicks starting (maybe for the last time this season).

Deadline 3PM PDT Tuesday. Giants are in no man’s land. Zaidi is going to earn his money. Tough calls to make.
This team frustrates the heck out of me. But I also have enjoyed watching them much more than the last couple of seasons. So from a selfish level, I’m hoping they stay relatively pat. All they have to do is go 34 and 19 and they hit 87. Easy!

By the way, the Giants have four consecutive series against sub-.500 teams (five if you count the Rockies), including the A's, Reds, Nationals and Tigers. Maybe they can go 10-2 in the next 12 games.
I think Farhan has to be a buyer, otherwise he's tacitly admitting his strategy and tactics are colossal failures...

Gotta disagree. Selling off the guys who do not figure to be in the mix next year is the right move. They should be giving all the playing time possible to the young guys who may be on the team next season. Given SF’s CBT situation, I don’t expect any big salaries to be added to the roster in 2025. They need to figure out who can help while getting back under the tax limit.

For some reason, Conforto's a hot ticket. No idea why. He had a hot first two months and has been ice cold for the last two months. But apparently, the Royals want him. They want Yaz too, but Yaz has been extremely hot in June and July, so...let's keep him:

I don't dispute any of those. The only one I'd dispute is Snell, who's gone 29-28 since Tampa Bay gave him up to the Padres for prospects. Keep him for the stretch run. He's got 10 starts left. He's 0-3 with a 5.10 ERA. Best he'd finish is about 8-3. I don't think he'll get any major offers from that, I think he'll opt in for next year and have another Cy Young type year. After that, let him go.
