But seventeen year olds in more sophisticated parts of the country are more likely to be aware of these areas of study that potentially pay more and are just better? Like all the seventeen year olds in urban enclaves like Marin County? Just like everywhere else in the country, the personal qualities that give rise to curiosity and inquiry are actually quite rare in Marin. And I can assure you that there is no shortage of pushy ambitious parents in the Midwest.
If your original point was that kinesiology and criminology are not offered at Stanford, I'm not sure what contribution the reference to Sioux Falls was supposed to make. I am also not sure if I believe that white collar jobs are better than blue collar jobs, a priori.

I watched the video with Farniok and do not see him leaving the midwest. Some kids are ready to move distances and embrace change. He does not strike me as one who does. I know what some of these kids would face, as I made the jump from a small logging town in Idaho to small Idaho liberal arts college to Stanford.
My view of Fallbrook was different than Ferrari when I lived there for 8 months. It was the big smoke for me, as I was coming from my forest firefighting job in Idaho to take a job in Fortune 500 IT. The most dangerous things I saw in Fallbrook were the people on their way home from Happy Hour or Monday Night Football in Carlsbad.
Farniok sees Stanford and Lower APR as very similiar and neither stood out from the other. He did not show any enthusiasm for either. I do not see him coming out west.

On to a brighter subject. Here is some great recruiting news. Robertson reports a 3.8 gpa. I assume that's from his junior year only since he previously reported a 3.2. If he can repeat that in his seventh semester, he has a good shot with Stanford admissions.

Remember, Stanford admissions drops freshman year GPA. So any upward trend is going to look even better in admissions' eyes.

I know it's a longshot, but you never know. Stanford's recruits are doing a great job pitching others to join the #cardclass16:

I don't know about Stanford grads per se but having grown up in the Bay Area, I have noticed this. I'm a city boy through and through, but I do have an appreciation for parts of the country where folks live more rural lifestyles. I often prickle when hearing how some of my friends speak about places that aren't large coastal cities, and how arrogantly they speak of California, the Bay Area in particular.

Stanford offers the best education in the world in the field of trash talk:

Pretty sure Sherman came into Stanford with highly developed trash talking skills. Apparently in high school, he trash talked his teammates into studying and getting into college.

Rivals story on Demitris Robertson says he's going to be visiting Stanford "next month" - I assume that means July - "for 2-3 days..."
This is one recruit who's actions support his words. Pretty much no doubt he's going to do everything possible to attend and play football at Stanford.

Williams is H.U.G.E. pickup :)
Probably the worst kept secret in Stanford's 2016 recruiting cycle.
Still wondering when Keith Simms is going to pull the trigger. He seemed to be almost as Stanford-leaning as Williams.
