I wonder what significance the Stanford - ASU game will have on WR Trent Irwin's recruitment:

He will take an official visit to Stanford for the Oregon State game.Â

None. The Shaw that will determine his status goes by Richard, not David.

Quote:That was big for me, just seeing the players and talking with them and seeing them outside of football, said Scarlett. People say Stanford athletes are not really social but I figured that wasnt true so it was cool seeing them be funny guys and outside of that. Theyre definitely guys I can be around.
I had no idea that this was the rumor going around. "Party in the Backfield" sounds pretty social to me. Maybe he saw Martyup's Angry Nerds logo and got the wrong idea?

Do those people reside in South Bend?

Nah, people in South Bend will spend all night on the phone with Stanford athletes, even the imaginary ones.

That's the same kind of BS stereotype Skip Bayless tried to use to justify RGIII over Luck for the #1 pick. He said that Luck was too nerdy to command leadership in the huddle and the team wouldn't rally around him. IIRC, he even did a Steve Erkel-ish voice and hand gesture to emphasize his point. Low and behold, 3 years later we hear stories of the team enjoying Settlers of Cattan gaming sessions, bonding with Werner by speaking German with him, and many teammates making good natured jokeds about his cell phone and low key personality. People think there's a one size fits all personality in sports.

Really?
That has been the go-to generic knock on Stanford, and really any top university, since basically forever. It's always been rather silly, but it's always been.

Makes me wonder, has anyone heard Bayless recently do a review of his Luck/Griffin analysis from 2012?

Today if drafting 2012 over, I'd still go RG3, Luck, then Russell Wilson (who went 75th). Still believe RG3 can return to rookie of yr RG3.

The guy is nothing if not consistent.

For those who follow Luck in the NFL, Greg Bedard served up this terd yesterday: "Andrew Luck Isnt Great"

What is it with Skip Bayless picking on Stanford football players? Is it because he went to Vanderbilt?

Skip hates everyone; I don't think it's personal.

DL Russell Ude, who Stanford was recruiting at one point, has committed to UCB. Anyone have any insight into why Stanford fell out of favor for him or vice-versa? Given how badly Stanford needs DL, can't see why Stanford wouldn't want a 4 star DE from Georgia with a 3.6 GPA.

He wasn't impressive at camp this past summer. And it wasn't the first camp he attended. For the d-line I think Shaw is banking on landing Rasheem Green, Christian Wilkins, Ross Donelly, and Dylan Jackson. Not much room for error though.
