As of right this moment, Stanford should be back in the top 25 on 247's composite rankings. 5th in the Pac-12, but that's partially because of Arizona/Arizona State's mammoth classes.

After a few re-ranks, 247's composite ranking bumped mightily. Stanford's now 23rd in the country and 4th in conference. If we have the type of finish we're hoping for, we should finish top 15 comfortably.

"I would like to announce that I am pulling away from my commitment to Stanford, and weighing all of my options."

Sad times, there is an interview of him from yesterday with David Lombardi.  Hopefully he still ends up committing to Stanford.  Maybe he just wants to do a conference on signing day...

Given the timing and not hearing a peep concerning a wavering commitment, this seems like an admissions casualty. :(

If it is, I cannot imagine how bad he must be feeling today - wish him the best and will follow his career on whichever team is lucky enough to have him.

This time of year can be so uplifting, but at the same time, can be so bitterly disappointing as well.  I read Kirk Tucker's post-trip interview, and was blown away by the passion he had for Stanford and the sense of anticipation he had for receiving good news on his admission. 

The fact he tweeted he is "puling away from his Stanford commitment" suggests he was denied admission. 

This brings back memories of Deante Gray being denied.  Really disappointing when a kid works his tail off, goes beyond what every other school asks him to do just so he can go there, and he gets told he can't go where he had his heart set.

I was accepted as a Graduate Assistant at the grad school of my dreams, but was denied admission to the school, so my sense of empathy is quite strong for kids who get denied Stanford admission after making recruiting commitments.

Anyway, I really liked Tucker's video and was looking forward to seeing him play.  Now it seems it will have to be for another program.

It sucks to lose any recruit (to admissions or for any other reason).  But it is par for the course this time of year.  And if there was one position where we have a number of recruits, it is safety.  Just hope the other Tucker (Casey) comes.

While we do have recruits at Safety with Reynolds leaving our Depth Chart at Safety is looking kind of weak and having the extra incoming Freshman would have been really nice

Dallas Lloyd, who was going to spend the Spring experimenting at the safety position will probably get a longer look.

I feel for Kirk Tucker, and wish him all the very best wherever he ends up as a student and as an athlete, and most importantly, as a person.

One of the things that I do in my dotage is interview prospective applicants to Stanford.  5-7 outstanding men and women every year, each of whom could easily excel academically and socially on the Farm.  I tell every one of them, honestly, that I hope they are admitted, and regardless of what actually happens, that I wish them a great life, wherever and however that life might unfold.

Even if Kirk comes back some day in another uniform to test or even help to overwhelm our team or more importantly shine in whatever facets of life he chooses to pursue after laying down his cleats, I will be proud of his accomplishments, and respect his love for Stanford.

This feels like a Kirk Tucker eulogy, and I wanted to say a few good words too.  I read somewhere recently (maybe on this site) that he actually has a 3rd cousin who is married to David Shaw's brother, so he already had a little connection.  He always had a good thing to say about the school.  And he was my secret favorite recruit coming in.  He was terrifying in his highlight videos.  Fast, incredible hitter, and on interceptions he would catch the ball at its highest point with his hands.  Would have loved watching him play here the next four years.  He might not be rated a four-star, but getting an offer from Ohio State is no small feat.  Good luck to him!
