I think we want Utah to win in this one to improve our odds of winning a conference crown in the regular season. It looks like Utah will knock off UCLA in OT!

Colorado and Utah go back to LA later in the season. We have such a favorable schedule this year with how things fell together. Also mentioned on the broadcast, the most current bracketology from today has three #1 seeds from the Pac12. UCLA, Colorado, and Stanford. Although the announcer said that is unlikely to happen in the end. Our resume and NET right now is very good.

Our NET is 2, Utah is 3, UCLA is 8, SC is 13, Colorado is 24.
I would not be surprised if every team in the Pac 12 winds up with at least a couple of Pac 12 losses. It is like playing the NCAA tournament several times in a row.

I think it's more likely that the P12 teams beat up on each other and that none of them end up a 1 seed. South Carolina, UConn and Iowa look like strong candidates. The P12 teams will be competing with the Big 12 champ (maybe Kansas State), the ACC champ and perhaps LSU for the other spot.
One thing to consider regarding seeding - with 5 strong P12 teams that could be in the top 16, the NCAA Committee will have to spread them across regionals. 2 or 3 of those teams will be sent to the Portland brackets and 2 or 3 will be sent to the Albany brackets. Maybe teams with better records/rankings will have a better chance to stay out West.

There will be two regionals played in Portland (Portland 3 and Portland 4) and two regionals played in Albany (Albany 1 and Albany 2) this year. On the whole, I would rather that Stanford play out west rather than travel 3 time zones away.

New Lauren Betts interview (by Haley Jones no less) now out where she touches (somewhat lightly) on her reason for transferring: Betts Interview. The key part starts at 24:10. She says she had to do what was best for her and needed to go to a place where she would get "support". (She also scoffs when Haley mentions talk about transfers being related to playing time.) Her experience (and her perception thereof) are what they are, but I'm not sure why she continues to critique Tara and the Stanford program. I don't recall other transfers harping on Stanford in this way (though the others didn't have Betts' high profile and weren't asked about it as much). Seeing all the misses Stanford has had on top prospects lately (zero McDonald All Americans this year), makes me worry about the impact these types of comments could be having on top recruits.

If every recruit is shown the video of the "1202 . . . and One" ceremony, we will have no worries about WBB recruiting.

On an unrelated topic, has anyone been following the TCU situation? Emma-Nnopu is getting all the minutes she wants since TCU had to forfeit two games last week because they only had 6 eligible players. Sounds like a completely unforeseeable disaster of mostly season-ending injuries. TCU coach had to hold open tryouts to get some players onto the roster.

I had it on on one monitor while working on the other. At one point they talked about last season. But when they giggled about not taking preparations for Utah and Washington seriously, I looked over at the screen with such scorn it's surprising it still works. There was also talk about the Ole Miss game, but by that time my head was pounding.

Yeah, love Haley but I don't get the vibe that she is the biggest Stanford advocate, either. She doesn't ever seem to show any public support on social for Cam, Tara's accomplishments or the team now that she's gone. I remember in the postgame pressor after the Ole Miss loss, someone asked her about her time at Stanford and the first word she used to describe her time here was "Interesting". Seems off putting to me.

There was a destructive undercurrent in last year’s team. It was evident in the many times that Haley came out of a game and never shook hands with Tara. She was the only one who didn’t connect with her coach in this way. In one huddle when Tara was preparing her team for the last quarter’s final action, Haley stood behind Tara and held both hands with thumb to forefinger touching over her eyes as if they were goggles and made fun of Tara. Tara was unaware of this. Haley wasn’t listening and she didn’t stop until Coach Brittney took her by the hand and pulled her away from the huddle.
At the end of the season, Haley skipped out on the Banquet and caught Tara totally by surprise. One can only guess what other shenanigans might have been pulled during those four years or what teammate’s mothers might have shared. Connect the dots to three players defecting at the end of the year, and then this self-serving “interview.” One can conjure up a pretty negative scenario. To say “one bad apple can spoil a bunch” would be an apt description.
But look what positives can accomplish! Look at this year’s team! Look at the connection they have with each other and with their coach! What a turn around! We are so fortunate to have unselfish, committed, and adult players this year locking arms in the best display of sportsmanship, esprit de corps, and team chemistry! They don’t have the numbers and they don’t have two #1 recruits, but they have heart! They are a team in the true sense of the word, and I love them dearly for it!

Haley Jones... as a sophomore. What does that have to do with anything as a senior leader, two years later? No one is disputing that Jones is a talented player... but as a leader? That's what is in question and a very fair topic of discussion. To be fair to Jones, she wasn't the only senior leader on the squad. But it is clear that the chemistry was off last year and maybe Jones has unfairly taken a brunt of the blame due to her high-profile status.
