RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - terry - 11-18-2023

Stanford lost a really tough 4th set after blowing something like 4 match points. They could have had a mental let-down and folded in the 5th set. Instead they came out blazing hot and pretty much wrapped it up early. That took some moxie and resilience. That's a good sign.

When watching games - I have moments where I  think wow we might seriously win the whole thing this year. Then in the next set I’m
thinking gosh, we might get upset in the first or second round. I still think that to be the case. I think we’re poised to make a deep run but an early loss would not surprise me either.
Well said
I agree
Absolutely sublime at times, poetry in motion
Then other times more like Alphonse & Gaston
Must drive Coach H crazy to see how great & dominating they can play. Only to be followed by some brain farts.
I’m hoping for the solid team to show up for the tournament

So late 4th set we have 23 lead by 3 and lose. Yes bad very bad.  Then Come out go 8-0 in the 5th set. That was awesome
Plus how about Vicini ?  What a great match by her

Actually 9-0.  Watch for the video later today.  Miner served for nine straight points.  Amazing.

Agree about Vicini.  Probably the most overlooked player on the team.

Match vs USC at high noon today.  USC is 18-9 overall but 11-0 at home.  I believe they are currently #24 in the AVCA poll.

Here is a two minute video of Sami Francis at practice.  The thing that stood out to me is how Hambly has to deal with different personalities.  Sometimes players don't seem to be totally focused on the task at hand during practice.

I'm hoping Stanford can get out to a good start today against USC and play with confidence.

Girls just wanna have fun. Cindy Lauper

When I coached softball I had my jokes ready.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Skylar Fields, best offensive USC player by far, was injured against Cal and is out today.

Francis injured early in first set and helped off court.

Yessssssssssssssssssss.  Francis back  in the match.

Stanford down 15-13 in first set.

Pringle gets serves in and Stanford now up 20-19.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 11-19-2023

USC 28-26 wins the first set.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Stanford loses first set to USC.  Stanford can't block a ball on the left side.  Just can't do it.

YA first set loss.  This is getting ... tiresome.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Announcer said no one in gym expected USC to win first set without Skylar Fields.  A little exaggeration but it tells a story that most objective vb fans would probably agree.

Announcers are pumped up.

USC missed serves twice when they had set point and Stanford still couldn't find a way to win.

USC falling apart in set 2.

Stanford up  16-6 in the second set.  Announcer says USC has to find its "flow state".

Now Stanford is the team falling apart.  Announcer says USC is now in its flow state.   Fortunately the lead is too much for USC to overcome it.

Stanford wins set 2.  Which Stanford team will show up in set 3?

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 11-19-2023

Stanford wins set 2 25-14

Stanford wins set 2 25-14

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Halfway through  the third set.  Kipp with three aces.  Rubin with four service errors.  Oglivie with four service errors.

Pringle getting her serves in.  Stanford up 20-13 in third set.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 11-19-2023

Stanford up 2-1 25-15

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Stanford wins set 3.  Pringle with seven straight serves toward the end of the set which was helpful.

USC up in fourth set 18-17.

USC up 23-21. Stanford can not block a ball on the left side.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - mbdude - 11-19-2023

stanford wins in 4 season. final set 32 to 30

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Stanford wins set 4 by a score of 32-30 and wins the match.

Announcer said this was as close to a good loss for USC as you can get.

Stanford wins set 4 by a score of 32-30 and wins the match.   The end of this set was a comedy of errors by both teams.
This unobjective VB fan, for one, is ecstatic…  ;-)

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 11-19-2023

Wow. Awesome win.  I’m
Thrilled. Winning the close games is so important for the team to build on

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 11-19-2023

Announcers said USC is projected to be in the Stanford NCAA bracket although no one knows for sure at this point.   USC coach played a bunch of second teamers as the game wore on.  I wonder if that was some strategery by him looking ahead to the tournament.

I feel bad for Skylar Fields.  I hope she can play in the tournament.
