I think the point was there was a wide open receiver at the 25, and Hogan threw to Montgomery who was covered, instead.

Am I the only one thinking "meltdown"?  Can we score 2 TDs and a FG to win this thing?

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - jacketree - 10-18-2014

Aw man, now the defense sucks too....

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - jayasena - 10-18-2014

Our offense seems to be getting worse as the season progresses. Part of that, I'm sure, is other coaches having more film and exploiting our weaknesses. But, still, the lack of progress (esp on the line) is depressing.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - Cardinal96 - 10-18-2014

Our defense has also been gashed.  Just a terrible game so far.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - OutsiderFan - 10-18-2014

It's over.  Stanford is simply too inept on offense, and ASU is getting way too many yards on first down.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - stupac2 - 10-18-2014

Man, it really sucks to just get completely exposed. I wish Stanford had the equivalent of a Fishduck to let us know how we're getting so comprehensively shut down. Our defense isn't even playing that well, though part of that is surely the offensive incompetence.

Threw it "to" Montgomery is being generous.

We are being soundly beaten by ASU's 2nd string QB . . . who'd a thunk it?  I just don't think we're going to pull this one out.

OK we can still own this 4th quarter.

Stanford is being quite simply, out-coached.  The offense is way too predictable and the execution abysmal.  These are hallmarks of poorly coached teams.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - Cardinal96 - 10-18-2014

Kudos to our defense.  They don't give up no matter how bad our offense is.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - fullmetal - 10-18-2014

ASU kicks a 47 yd FG.  20-3, bad guys.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - DC - 10-18-2014

Ok, it's the fourth quarter and we need three scores in 12 minutes.  Four down time, but we usually need more than four downs to get 10 yards..

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - stupac2 - 10-18-2014

The one consolation is that the only time our offense has been effective is during the hurry up.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - HisKneeWasDown - 10-18-2014

OK let's go Stanford. Plenty of time.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - stupac2 - 10-18-2014

If I were a member of the press I would ask why we're not running the hurry up all the time. All year when we've been playing difficult games we've had significantly more success with the hurry up than we have otherwise.

Stop huddling, stop changing players. Just put the best guys in and go.

Finally, a TD

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - deepred - 10-18-2014

On the plus side, no issues with red zone offense today.

Re: STanford - Arizona State live thread - Viking_Guy - 10-18-2014

Hmm.  Do you think Hogan got that pass batted down because he, I don't know, stared at Rector for a good three seconds, then started his long wind-up and telegraphed the pass to the lineman who got a hand up and jumped?
