That's how I saw it, as well.

I don't know about you, but most of the time I call the play we're going to do next it works. I called Wilkerson's TD draw, for example. Felt like the right time to run a draw. Also one of the play action passes on 3rd (or maybe 2nd, I don't remember this as well) and short. Worked out great.
I was sort of annoyed by not taking a TO after the sack, but I know why he did it. I can't bring up another time where I was bothered by a playcall.
You want to see a bad playcall? Look at Michigan's play on the 2-point conversion. Three receivers run routes and there are FIVE DBs right there to cover them. I love those odds! I know that their QB was gimpy and that limited what they could do, but come on, that was just horrid. At least have some kind of option on the other side of the field to keep the defense guessing.

Note that I never think to myself: "Hey I think this is a good time to run the Wildcat."

I think he'll be okay...

Seriously. The Wildcat is not nearly as big of a problem as people on here make it out to be. A couple times a game seems about right for something that routinely gains a few yards and often hits a home run.

Do note that recently the wildcat has used elements of misdirection (fly-sweep motion fake vs. handoff) which I like better then just plowing forward with no threat of pass to keep safeties honest.Â
That being said, I feel the overall gains are minimal and risks are high. Anytime you change up personnel at whoever is handing the ball off, you run the risk of miscues, fumbles, etc. By my count both the lloyd package and the wildcat have led to a turnover apiece in a small number of plays. The gains have been many 2-5 yard runs and a few longer runs, not unlike our base offense. The risk/reward just doesn't compute to me.

Agreed. People often don't see the risk if it doesn't happen on a particular play, but it doesn't mean it is not there. It may well be that they are having a hard time figuring out how to utilize Kelsey Young's speed, and this is one of the few ways to do it.
