Beck sounds positive, and based on an interview I heard on Scout, I would say our chances are excellent with 4* safety Brandon Simmons. If we could get verbals from the two, it would be a nice way to start rolling on the recruiting season.

It doesn't sound like Christian McCaffrey is making a decision anytime soon. Didn't know that his mom was a Stanford athlete as well. Where are the pushy Stanford parents when you need them? Maybe they're using the reverse psychology jedi mind trick on him.

I've seen his GPA in some places in the 3.3-3.4 range so I think he needs to see if he can get that up a bit and how well he does on his SAT/ACT.

Old article from SI on Easy Ed. His wife and Christian's mom sounds like a pistol.
"Noting that her father, sprinter David Sime, graced SI's cover in 1956, Lisa riffs, "That's why Ed and I got togetherso we could breed fast white guys.""
Well considering Christian runs a 4.47, I guess that worked. Wish his GPA matched his 40 time.

Well on a brighter note ESPN Insider says we lead for Garrett Dickerson. The interview is behind their paywall.

best parts:
Quote:This past weekend, Garrett Dickerson (Oradell, N.J./Bergen Catholic) sat in on a sleep study at Stanford. Now the Cardinal coaches are hoping Dickerson puts his recruitment to bed.
While the 6-foot-4, 240-pound ESPN Watch List tight end is not ready to end the process with a Stanford verbal commitment, Dickerson does have the Cardinal high on his list following two days in Palo Alto, Calif., this past weekend.
They have a jump on everyone else, Dickerson said.
...
Stanford will definitely be in. Michigan will definitely be there. Ohio State, Alabama will be in there, Dickerson said. Those are the few that I know.
...
Stanford, as Dickerson mentioned, is among those setting the pace. His favorite part of the visit was just touring the campus, which he heard about at length from family and friends who had already seen it. Still, their recollections of Stanford fell short of what Dickerson experienced, as he was blown away by the universitys setting.
Academics are a major factor in Dickersons eventual decision, so he wanted to see what it is like to be a Cardinal student. So he sat in on a class -- a sleep study on narcolepsy. He also ate lunch with several professors and talked about the degrees offered and what fields he can get into after his playing career.
The rest of the trip was about watching practice and talking with the coaches, and he spoke with coach David Shaw at length.
We were sitting down and speaking with him and what he had to say was what it takes to be a Stanford man and how I can be that, Dickerson said.
They also talked about where they see Dickerson playing, which is as an outside linebacker with the potential of being moved to tight end.
This coming weekend Dickerson will visit Northwestern. ...

I don't care what he says, Alabama and Ohio State will not be there at the end.
