That is a good sign for our new coach. Also, could this 4 star receiver flip be an indication that we have a top QB in the works? Time will tell.

Just mailed off my Christmas wish list to Santa.
In it I included another QB and another studly (or two) OL's for Stanford.

This may have already been posted, but this early signing period ends Friday, Dec. 5. The next signing period doesn't begin until February 4.
The transfer portal window is January 2-16, unless the player in question is playing in the CFP championship. But there is an exception for teams like Stanford who are hiring a new head coach. Starting five days after a new head coach is hired or announced, players will have a 15-day window to enter their names in the portal.
If memory serves, Tavita Pritchard was officially named Stanford head coach on November 28. So current Stanford players are eligible to enter the transfer portal from December 3-18. I haven't heard about anyone from Stanford entering the transfer portal, but I would welcome being fact-checked on everything above.

I haven't kept track of early enrollees, but this seems like a large number for Stanford?

You got it! Per Stanford article: "A program-record seven signees will join the program as early enrollees in January."

247 sports has updated team recruit rankings in ACC for Stanford to include last minute Zion Robinson.
We remain at 8th of 17 ACC teams.
However, our avg rank per player is slightly higher at 7th.
I think this is pretty good considering all these recruits, except maybe Zion, any others?, committed not knowing who their head coach would be.
Our class looks strong in WR's, LB's, DB's.
Our QB looks better than I first understood, the more i look.
While we got some quality at other positions, hoping that going forward in any additional commits or transfer portal, can add to: TE, OL, RB!!, DL.
Also no kicker/punter in the class.
Re RB, with none in this class, I worry a bit, as I recall some few years ago where it seemed like 4 (?) of our top RB's were all hurt all at the same time.
And Mitch Leigber had to convert to RB for awhile?!
Hope not to experience that again....

I did notice that our OLB is listed as 6’6” 205 lbs. Can he block, run routes and catch?

4 star ATH Dre Pollard, who we flipped from UW, also at the 11th hour, was primarily being recruited as a RB by the Huskies. The Huskies recruited well at RB, WR and DB otherwise, helping prompt his decision to flip. He's a track guy, winning the 100, 200, and 400-meter dash state championships in Nevada as a junior.

Two articles about college football recruiting from the Athletic:
This article profiles how much the top programs use the transfer portal vs high school recruiting. In general most of the top programs are focused on building their teams through high school recruiting with player development.

This article is about the challenges each of the new head coaches face at the new schools. The review for Stanford is the same, the challenge of finding players who have the academic profile to gain admission.

Punter signing in February.
Thanks for clarifying, Samuel - great info! Keeping fingers crossed for positive portal/Feb signing news.

Is this the right thread for transfer news? Jack Leyrer is the only Cardinal in the portal so far. He is a 5th year OL who was injured all season and did not play.

I vote yes for tracking transfer activity here - keeping ins and outs together in one place simplifies things IMO, but I'll defer to the admins &/or majority.
If we do wind up using this thread for that purpose, maybe the thread title can be amended accordingly?
