Unfortunately, UW's loss probably pushes Stanford down one in the bowl lineup (since UW will not proceed to the championship bowls).
Why is there an assumption that a team must be undefeated to get into the playoff? There's no team in the Big12 or ACC who is undefeated. Clemson and Michigan both lost today. If UW runs the table, they are still in.

Yeah, I really don't understand this. There's currently one undefeated P5 team! The highest-ranked Big 12 team already has two losses! If UW wins out, they're in. It's that simple.
The Big 10 is where things get interesting because if OSU and PSU both win out then PSU goes to the title game and OSU stays home. It's possible that OSU still gets into the playoff in that situation but I doubt it. Hard to predict though.

West Virginia is 8-1, fwiw.

Well, I was convinced Michigan was going to curb stomp Iowa, and who would have argued? They were 9-0, playing at a 5-4 Iowa who was smashed at PSU last week.Â
The conferences are all a mess right now.Â
ACC
Clemson lost at home to 5-4 Pitt, and frankly is lucky it didn't have 2-3 losses coming in to yesterday.
Louisville, who arguably is the best team in the ACC, loses the division tie breaker to Clemson.
The two best teams in the other division UNC and VT, both lost this weekend to unranked teams.
Big 12
It's leader was thumped by both a now unranked Houston and Ohio State.Â
No good OOC win for any Big 12 team, with losses to Cal and Central Michigan on the ledger.
Big Ten
Michigan controls own destiny and Ohio State may be the best team.
But, if Ohio State beats Michigan and PSU beats Rutgers and Michigan State, PSU goes to CG.
And, the leader of the West, Wisconsin, has already lost to Michigan and Ohio State.
Pac-12
Arguably the best conference in the country as it well could have 6 teams that finish with 9+ wins this season.
Washington wins out and they will be in the playoff over Big 12 champion, but...
If WSU were to win out, it will have a similar resume to the Big 12 champion; 9-0 in conference with 2 bad OOC losses.
SEC
Alabama is a level above everyone, so this isn't a problem, but...
The SEC East is garbage.
#9 Auburn just set a record for offensive futility in a half (worse than Stanford at UW) at UGA and is 7-3.
#8 Texas A&M is now 7-3 after losing to Ole Miss starting a True Frosh on road in first game.

Well, Alabama losing in the playoffs is probably as likely as, say, Iowa beating Michigan.

I don't understand this need for a Pac-12 team in the CFP. If it's not going to be Stanford (which it won't be this year), I'd rather see no Pac-12 team in the CFP. Especially not Washington.
Washington has the coaching, fan support, location, facilities, and even history (to some extent) to be a very, very successful program. I'm rooting for anything that would stop or slow their momentum or we could be looking up at them in the Pac-12 North rankings for a very long time.
IMO, Oregon doesn't have the location or the history to be dominant for a long time, despite their recent success. USC and UCLA can't seem to help shooting themselves in their feet in coaching hires. IMO, Washington is the biggest threat to continued success at Stanford in the near and medium term (other than our own ability to address the current issues).

Well, this year placing a PAC12 team in the CFP means a better bowl for Stanford.
I'm not sure that U,S,C made a coaching hire mistake this time around. Seems like more of a QB starter mistake (of the sort we might be familiar with).

Hmm... Taking the long view. I like that.....
For me it's respect. The conference needs respect so we stop getting stuck playing 8pm games. It needs respect if we're gonna get better rankings. It needs respect if were gonna get better Bowl tie-ins (why don't we have a tie-in with the SEC? Why is our #4 slot tied in with a #5-#7 Big Ten team (such as a 5-7 Nebraska last year... Which UCLA lost to... OK never mind...)

Most of your gripes are related to something other than respect.
1. Game times.
This is more about geography than respect. The networks want to spread out the games as much as possible. Thus the push to later times, to weekdays, etc. Eastern teams aren't going to fill the latest slots, western teams are.
2. Better Rankings.
There might be something here, but UW making the playoff isn't going to help Stanford get ranked higher - or anybody else other than themselves. Don't think Oregon did it for Stanford two years ago.
At any rate, I think the effect is much smaller than most seem to believe. After all, every fan base in America thinks the media is biased against their team - and I don't think they can all be right.
3. Better bowl tie-ins.
Again, something to this but it is more about geography.
The SEC sits in the eastern bowl territory, and mostly plays bowl games in their home region. The Pac 12 sits in western bowl territory, and mostly plays bowl games in their home region - and where they don't it's western-ish (i.e. Texas).
Since both leagues are set to play home-ish bowls, there isn't overlap.
The lineups with lower finishing teams in other conferences is now mostly the Big Ten with the Holiday and Foster Farms bowls. That could be better.
Re: Other games of interest -
jayasena - 11-14-2016
I don't think respect is a problem. A Pac-12 team with 1 loss will make the CFP in almost any year; on par with any P5 conference other than the SEC. The problems with game times and bowl tie ins etc. are more due to geographical, contractual, and historical reasons as CTcard also pointed out.
The only time I think respect has been a problem is in the voting for a particular individual award. But that's been so consistent that I think bias towards football factories is a bigger factor there than respect for the conference. Washington doing well won't help.
The argument for a better bowl game this year if Washington goes to the CFP is a valid one. But I don't think the difference between Marginal Bowl and Insignificant Bowl offsets the longer term negatives.
