Just a shittttty ballplayer.
Hmmmm…. A guy who married into the Walton fortune does own the Arsenal, the Rams, Nuggets and Avalanche (the latter two in his wife’s name). There could be something to this, Phogge…..
Lol.

Nah, ex-investigative journalist in me thinks it’s naughty pictures. There was a story going around years ago about a certain Giants outfielder.

Confirmed by three sources including Pavlovic. No reports about who's going off the 40 man but I hope it's the Walton heir.

They will transfer DeSclafina to the 60 day IL since he won’t return this season. This will open a spot for Villar.

Nope Giants. Scalopini on IL on 7/1, Jelly up.
7/4 moves: up: Villar and Llovera. Down: Jelly and Marte.
Check the MLB Transactions page.

I know Dubon was not favored by some of you, but he would have been verrrry handy the last couple weeks. I'm sorry they traded him for whom?
BASED ON ONE GAME, Villar looks like a keeper. Why wasn't he one of top prospects? Suddenly discovered the light?

I did. DeScalfina was placed on the 15 day IL on 7/1. When he is transferred to the 60 day, it will indicate that as a separate transaction. In fact, he hasn’t been transferred yet because the opening on the 40 man was created when Estrada went on the IL because of COVID. Players placed on the IL due to COVID don’t count against the 40 man until they return. I suspect when Estrada returns, DeSclafina with be moved to the 60 day IL. All technical stuff but always fun to follow……

Nope. Two active spots created by Marte and Jelly going to Sacto. ACTIVE spots filled by Llovera and Villar. Not talking 40 man here. July 4 demotions and July 4 callups.

It's time to start asking if the Giants will finish above .500 this season. They were a good team in April, but since then they have been bad, show no sign of improvement, and are actually getting worse. Even the Marlins are quickly making up ground on them, just 2 GB for the #5 WC spot.
The Giants should wear aprons on the field given the butchers they are on it. Even when they don't officially make errors, the defense routinely sucks. At least Villar had two hits...
Anyone yet care to join me on the "Sell" bandwagon?

The next few weeks will determine if they become sellers. It’s not rocket science.

Update on the Prelander Berroa (22yrs, RHP) for no hit, no field Donovan Walton.
Berroa at High A Everett (Mariners) 9 starts, 36.1 IP, 2.23 ERA, 21 hits, 24 BB, 57 K.
They must have seen something in Walton or something about Berroa that they didn't like.
RE: 2022 Giants thread -
Giants - 07-05-2022
Berroa - Walk to IP ratio far too high (6 BB per 9 innings pitched). If you can’t find the plate at High A, you will never make it to the bigs.

Disagree immensely. Did you ever pitch? Just needs to find the right pitching guru. Can go to the Baseball Ranch in the off season or to Tom House and his guys in SoCal. This is not 1970 or even 2015. Just needs commitment and a little cash.

If it were that simple, all the hard throwing guys with no command would make a pilgrimage to the Fountain of Control.
Geez, even Joe Shipley might be in line for a comeback…..

You can use the sarcasm all you want. You state that nobody can right the ship if they lack control and command in High A. You bring up the wildest pitcher in SF Giants history. Why even bother with a kid who walks a ton a A. Just release them all I guess.
You ever actually been a pitching coach beyond Little League?
RE: 2022 Giants thread -
Giants - 07-05-2022
I’ve never been a pitching coach at any level. Heck, the only coaching I have ever done was a company softball team. We won our division which got us promoted to the next level where we were wiped out and relegated back to our comfort level. My best decision was taking myself out of the lineup in favor of a power-hitting young woman (all teams were required to field an equal number of men and women).
Could Berroa unlock the secret of controlling his stuff? Of course. However, it is my guess that the Giants felt they have other prospects with better control and are more likely to move forward.
Anyway, thanks for putting Berroa on my radar. I’ll be keeping an eye on his stats…..

Yeah it is one of those where you hope the kid is successful but if he is then woe to Farhan. My gripe is the guy they got, Walton, can't play.
And I was a pitching coach for two summers in a league where good graduated HS players were finding out if they wanted to carry on. I always had great control (sometimes I could hit the bat every time). I tried to make it simple, don't aim, work with your catcher (hopefully the squatter had his head screwed on), let it flow. Once they could get it near the plate you could work on pitching to spots. I had one very talented kid who mostly had played short. He was really our only choice after a very talented but dour lefty quit the squad. Partly my fault because I was tough on myself early on and I don't think the kid had the desire to get better. After a couple of sessions I thought I had something and the shortstop discovered he had a live fastball. I didn't want to teach him any other pitches but we worked on keeping the ball down (FB moved in and. down to a RH hitter). After awhile we added a palm ball (my changeup) but mostly to show it to keep the hitter a bit off. Kid had a magnificent year and we won a lot more than we lost. I had two other kids who were undeveloped. One was tall and new to pitching. I spent time with him and he got into a few games. He later starred for St. Mary's. You never know. I worked with a friend's boy years later, a big strapping 12 year old. Changed his grip and he had a great summer. Lots of talent but girls intervened.

Walton to Sac; Crawford back.
Casali to IL; Alvarez back.
SF down to one true catcher - Wynns. I guess Mercedes would be the backup if Wynns goes down.

Maybe down to no true catcher……
