Dickerson to join his brother at Northwestern:

Geaux Cardinal!

Looks like we may successfully flip Vanderbilt commit Jesse Burkett if he receives the fat envelope.

Geaux Cardinal!

Were we recruiting him as a TE?  Was this a surprise?  I remember he had Stanford as his number 1 choice back in the summer.

Re: Class of 2014 - OutsiderFan - 12-13-2013

Stanford apparently cooled on Dickerson because he had a pretty unimpressive Senior year.

Re: Class of 2014 - OutsiderFan - 12-13-2013

My question is if there is any reason to be concerned about Solomon Thomas visiting UCLA this weekend.  The rivals interview with him this week makes Thomas sound pretty undecided, and UCLA has some of the best recruiters around.

My guess is it all comes down to the envelope for all the remaining elite guys like Thomas, Schultz, C. Tucker, and Alexander.

Agreed. I am willing to make a safe bet that all of our top targets are just waiting to know their admission status.

In regards to Thomas, being coached by the legendary and energetic Randy Hart at one of the most respected universities in the world who is in their fourth straight BCS bowl presents a unique opportunity that is tough to beat. He has made many connections with Stanford commits and if reading between the lines on twitter reveals anything, his "likes" suggest Stanford is the top of his list.

Re: Class of 2014 - PrinceLightfoot - 12-16-2013

Notre Dame just received the commitment of its 2nd TE for this class, Tyler Luatua. Some have said that the Domers only have two available slots for TE in this recruiting cycle which is excellent news for us.

Dalton Schultz will look great in a Cardinal jersey.

That is good news, especially after watching "Darren" Schultz's ND visit video.

Re: Class of 2014 - yvonne - 12-17-2013

Yeah, Notre Dame wasn't "sick" or "freakin' awesome."

McCaffrey's senior tape is impressive: https://twitter.com/CMccaffrey5/status/413372287312601088

I don't know. Could have used a few more 99 yards TD runs, IMO.

Re: Class of 2014 - CornFed - 12-19-2013

I don't know how to say this tactfully and I would emphasize that I don't know the answer conclusively just looking at the video, but do folks here have any sense of the level of the competition that McCaffery is facing in these games?  I mean, maybe he's a genetic outlier, but it doesn't seem like the opposing players are even remotely in his league as far as strength and speed.  If my question has merit, then is there any real way to assess how he might fare at the top college level?

The conventional wisdom is that Colorado stinks, but McCaffrey lit up the California team his high school played this year (which I believe had a lot of future FBS players) and, additionally, Dalton Schultz's team.

Is there a big gathering of undecideds coming up? Seeing a lot of the players on our wish list visiting the second week of January.

Yes. Anyone who hasn't taken their official visit is visiting on January 10. And that is most of the class I believe.

IIRC all visits prior to January 10 are unofficial visits.  The only official visit is January 10 as a group.

no, the definition of the official visit is Stanford is footing the bill and not when it occurs. You have the option of saving your official visit for the big weekend in January but there have been kids in the past who used their official visit during the season and then didn't visit again in January since they would have to pay their way. Most of these families can afford to take at least one unofficial visit but I do recall a few kids in recent years that skipped the big weekend since they had already used up their official visit.

Re: Class of 2014 - washingtonismoney - 12-30-2013

Christian McCaffrey impressed today in Army All-American practices. He was ranked the top player on the West team:

"1. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Littleton (Colo.) Valor Christian
Stanford commit
McCaffrey was added to the West roster as an all-purpose athlete but he emerged from a talented pack as Monday’s best running back. He has outstanding pass-catching skills but McCaffrey was also one of the day’s most explosive runners."

This one calls him a future NFL player: https://twitter.com/ArmyAllAmerican/status/417770305537339392

etc.

Re: Class of 2014 - Bruce Wang - 01-02-2014

When the recent past has me down, I find thinking about the future helps.

As WIM mentions, McCaffrey is playing Saturday on NBC at 1PM EST.  Along with other fellow commits: Brandon Simmons and Nifae Lealao. As well as Stanford recruitee Solomon Thomas.

And this afternoon (Thurs Jan 2) at 4PM EST on ESPN is the Under Armour game which will feature Keller Chryst and recruittee Casey Tucker.

I saw somewhere that Chryst had to cancel on flying out for the UA game.
