Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 09-03-2014

If Wilkins is officially visiting Stanford, and filling out an application, the odds of him going to Stanford should be much higher on 247, shouldn't they?  I mean isn't the OV to commit ratio pretty high for recruits who do both?

The crystal ballers never consider Stanford for East Coasters unless they really comment on Stanford frequently. Wilkins hasn't really said anything about any of the schools playing things very close to the vest, so the predictions are all shots in the dark with the PSU prediction resting heavily on him saying he had a good time at a team BBQ a few weeks ago.

We've had a rocket scientist (Fleming), maybe we'll get a brain surgeon soon!

Has there been a former Stanford player that became a brain surgeon?

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside had a decent game tonight: https://twitter.com/MattConnollySHJ/status/508080752915783682

Henry Roberts - JohnR34231 - 09-06-2014

Saw where he had committed to Washington. I thought we had a pretty good shot at him, after reading an article where he raved about Stanford both academically and athletically (particularly the strength and conditioning program). Anyone know what the deal is? Academics? Wanting to stay close to home?

We aren't out of the picture completely, but yes to the first assumption.

Low gpa and a terrible test score. I'm too lazy to go find them.

Also believe it was reported somewhere that he wasn't retaking tests or enrolling in AP courses

Rex Manu would be a big loss considering the lack of depth at the position (see the video, which is free).

You linked to an article that is behind a paywall.  Can you tell us what it said about Manu (without copying the entire article)?

Re: Class of 2015 - stanfan95118 - 09-09-2014

read the parenthetical remark

Re: Class of 2015 - Papa John - 09-09-2014

To save folks from the suspense, basically the video said that Rex Manu made his official visit to UO last Saturday, and, apparently, UO is now in the lead in his recruitment.

As far as I can tell, he has yet to decommit from Stanford, so I'm putting on my completely biased and uninformed cardinal-colored glasses and declaring that UO is Manu's safety school.

as I understand it, Stanford is no longer a realistic option for him.

Re: Class of 2015 - Papa John - 09-09-2014

Well, that optimism didn't last long  :(

Re: Class of 2015 - TrumpCard - 09-09-2014

It happens less with Shaw than it did under Harbaugh, but it still happens, and it sucks every time.  I hope Manu lands on his feet and now I really hope that Stanford can land Wilkins and Donnelly.

Re: Class of 2015 - stanfan95118 - 09-09-2014

That would really suck to have both Manu and Kaumatule not admittable and commit to oregon.

Re: Class of 2015 - dabomb1227 - 09-09-2014

Blurb on this website would signal that he has "officially de-committed" (however stupid that phrase sounds)

That is the most likely result.
