RE: WBB 2023-2024 Season - WBB fan - 12-23-2023

Marisa Ingemi, who covers WBB for the SF Chron, is in agreement with people on this board about Lepolo's role and need to do a bit more scoring. But she also has a lot of good things to say about Lepolo as well in her first page sporting green article this morning.

https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/college/article/stanford-isn-t-worried-talana-lepolo-s-minor-18547466.php?utm_source=marketing&utm_medium=copy-url-link&utm_campaign=article-share&hash=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc2ZjaHJvbmljbGUuY29tL3Nwb3J0cy9jb2xsZWdlL2FydGljbGUvc3RhbmZvcmQtaXNuLXQtd29ycmllZC10YWxhbmEtbGVwb2xvLXMtbWlub3ItMTg1NDc0NjYucGhw&time=MTcwMzM1NjE5OTQ5Nw%3D%3D&rid=M2MxMjcwMWMtZmVlNS00MjQzLWE4MDYtMDkyOTI3OGZiYjY3&sharecount=MA%3D%3D

One difference I have with her -- she only mentions Clardy as a back-up, ignoring Harriel, who, I believe, has good potential as well

I don’t really see Harriel as a PG.  Her handle and ability to bring up the ball under pressure aren’t great and her passing isn’t on par with Lepolo.  However she could be a very good shooting guard and I hope she keeps taking and making 3’s because she might just be our Jump replacement.  Plus you have great ball handling pure PG’s in the ‘24 and ‘25 classes with Iwoje and Swain.

Very much agree on Harriel Bos Card

The revolving door of transfers began right after he had his best team--probably a national championship taken away by COVID--and Oregon has plummeted since.  He had a surprising number of transfer out even earlier than that, but the ones more recently have been devastating.

But I don't have a clue as to what went wrong at Oregon.  Oregon State has been hurt some too--maybe the weather becomes a fact now that athletes can always move to sunnier climes.  Or maybe it is something more substantial.  I wonder what the Oregon fans think it is?

Oh, Duck, it ain't pretty: https://forum.fishduck.com/topic/13002-coach-graves%E2%80%A6you-%E2%80%98thought-we-played-well%E2%80%99/

I think Graves may jump ship, soon be "over" this transfer portal world and perhaps is the first coach of our future Golden State WNBA team.

Intriguing. I'd think it would be a brobdingnagian pay cut, though.

And AGARA is #2 in FT% in the PAC 12 at 94.3%,
barely behind teammate BRINK's 94.4%

I'll be at Pauley for the USC-UCLA game tomorrow. It's a sell out. Should be a great one in a rockin' house! My ticket cost less than $10.

RE: WBB 2023-2024 Season - Lorcan - 12-29-2023

Big news as Rori Harmon, the cog that makes Texas go, is out for the season with a torn ACL. Texas’ title hopes take a big hit with that.

So Utah and now Texas suffer the injury bug big time.  Yes, Rori Harmon torched us two years ago at Maples, in her first or second collegiate game I think.  One of the best of the very short stop-and-pop waterbug guards we have ever played.

I see more UCLA added another assistant coach to their staff today. They are now up to 5 assistants (including associate head coach).
I see Colorado, USC, UCLA, Uconn, South Carolina all have five assistants on their staff too. Will Stanford add another position now that it is permissible to do so?

We will be watching Utah/Colorado and USC/UCLA today. Should be some exciting, competitive games.

we are watching Utah v CO now - tied at half time.  Very competitive game.

I’m not sure anyone on Utah or Colorado can guard Cameron Brink. But can we guard Pili or Sherrod? Both teams pretty evenly matched.

we attended both the out of state CO and the Utah games in person last year.  After watching Sherrod play today, I'm not sure anyone can stop her!

Dunno. At Colorado last year, she still managed to light us up for 19 points (in 44 minutes). Refs stunk up that game, but we pulled it out anyway (though, perhaps, squandering every ounce of energy left and paying for it at Utah).

Sherrod is the type of player I will enjoy watching at the next level. I do not enjoy JR Payne-led basketball (and would stop watching entirely if every team played like hers).

And Utah and Texas both go down to defeat--probably not if Kneepkins and Harmon had stayed healthy.

Have the made it inside Pauley yet? At the end of the first quarter, still looks 1/3 empty. Then again, those could be seats purchased by people who never show up (like at Maples).

tv coverage says 13,000 tickets sold - first time women's basketball has sold out Pauley

UCLA v USC game 38-37 UCLA at half.  Juju Watkins is carrying USC with 18 points.  Londynn Jones has 11 points for UCLA with Betts and Osborne at 7 points each.
