Stanford is missing out on some brothers of current players who appear to be excellent recruits. Christian Rector (presumably Michael's brother) is a pretty highly rated OLB/DE and is committed to the Toejams. Stanford could have used him, but his self-reported GPA wasn't in the ballpark.Â
I hope Christian Brandt-Sims is able to buck the trend next year. He looks like a good one.

Michael's from Washington and Christian's from L.A., so I don't think that's the case.

I am 95% certain that Christian Rector (3rd generation Toejam) from Los Angeles, CA is not Michael's brother who is from Tacoma, Washington.
Cassius Peat and Canton Kamautule were being pursed by Stanford until (rumored) academics became a hurdle too high to cross.
Christian Brandt-Sims and Connor Murphy on the other hand are definitely on Stanford's radar.

My mistake. I saw he was from Loyola in LA and I was thinking that Rector was as well. Now I remember that it was Whitfield, not Rector, who was the 2012 receiver from Loyola.

Yup, he will probably be playing LB for them while we were considering him at safety. I have a feeling that our coaches may offer him if other pieces do not fall as expected. Good player!

Consensus seems to be that there's no way he's heading out of state, but it's nice to have a shot.

Spurred my curiosity, but I wonder how close brothers tend to be, academically speaking, in general? I remember my brother and I were 20 points apart on the old 1600 scale, and my two sons were 40 points apart on the 2400 scale.

As always, the longer he goes without committing, the more hopeful I will become that he is waiting on word from Stanford admissions

The season has begun and August is coming to an end. I am surprised there haven't been any reported developments in recruiting. Are there any events that are likely to trigger commitments before the recruits receive their results for the October SAT?

I tested significantly lower than my siblings (close to 200pts on the 1600 pt scale). Then again my brother aced the math and my sister (class of '84) aced the verbal.

Christian Wilkins set an official visit at Stanford for the week of the Army game. http://247sports.com/Player/Christian-Wilkins-26842. Also, despite the crystal ball picking Wilkins to attend PSU, OSU, or U of SB, 247sports shows Stanford and Penn State as the two "warm" schools on the heat index. You'd almost think that 247sports is trying to read tea leaves, but that would be mixing metaphors.
