Sorra & Monkhouse won their QF 21-15, 21-3.  (In five matches, only once has their opponent broken 10 in both sets.)

The #1 seed (from USA) and the #2 (from Mexico) both lost in their QFs, so Sorra & Monkhouse are the highest remaining seed (#3).  They'll play a semifinal, and then either for gold or bronze tomorrow.

Sorra & Monkhouse lost in the semis (21-19, 15-21, 16-18) to the eventual champs from Puerto Rico.

The Canadians did win bronze.

ETA:  As pointed out on VT, the winning team from Puerto Rico are juniors from GCU and TCU.

A couple of commits for BVB today on instagram:

Babi Gubbins (2024), 6'3" (expected).

Claire Sun (2025), Los Altos Hills (Castilleja); 5'9" (first I've heard of her). She has "committed to the application process".
She earned a AAA on CBVA last year in Santa Monica and Santa Cruz.  Has also competed with Logan Tusher, another Stanford 2024 BVB recruit.

USAV is holding trials to pick teams for FIVB U21 and U23 beach tournaments, in Hermosa Beach this week:

There was a qualification round Monday and pool play today for the U21s.

Three incoming Stanford freshman have made it through pool play and into the elimination bracket:
Chloe Hoffman, Brooke Rockwell, Clara Stowell.

I believe a 2024 recruit, Logan Tusher, was eliminated in the qualifier.

I missed the fact that incoming freshman Avery Jackson was also playing.
As well as rising junior Taylor Wilson.

The recruits all got eliminated (though each won at least one match), but Wilson has made to the semifinals, which happen tomorrow at 9:30am

Taylor Wilson won her semi and is in the final... which should be done by now, but no result posted yet.

I missed the fact that Stanford's Kate Reilly was playing in the U23 (small field of only 11 teams).  She also made it to the semis, but lost the final.

Ivanna Rivera Vargas is from Chula Vista and was invited to try out for the Mexican national team.

A poster on VT says Mikki Carlin (Wave) is another 2025 recruit for Stanford.
Have not found any IG (etc.) for her.
She recently earned a CBVA "A" rating in San Diego.

Xolani Hodel and Charlie Eckstrom are both entered in the AVP Denver Open, a lower level AVP event (though not together).  They are mentioned in this VB magazine article, along with several others:

Looks like Hodel is in the main draw, but Ekstrom will need to go through the qualifier.

Alumna Charlie Eckstrom won her first match (eliminating the Nourse twins) in the Denver AVP qualifier, but lost her second.
Xolani Hodel (playing with Kahlee York, LSU graduate) was seeded 12th, and they won their first match in (modified) pool play.  Their second match is against the #1 seed, Harward&Kolinske.  I expect they will make the elimination bracket (or at least, the lucky-loser round).  There is low-res streaming of the Denver event.

In Sweden, Line Andersson continues to compete on the Swedish Beach Voleyball tour.
And incoming freshman Ruby Sorra (repping Canada) played in the qualifier for an FIVB event in Messina, Italy, but didn't make the main draw.
