yes, that was the rumor for a long time. So if the family thinks Notre Dame is too far then maybe Mom wins out. But I still would not be shocked if he goes with USC. Far from a lock IMO.

All of the predictors at 247 have to give their opinion on hundreds of fickle high school kids they have never met. Sometimes these "experts" have valid information. Sometimes they don't. But, they have to give their opinion. They don't have a lot of time. And, when they are wrong, no one cares.

Is there any particular aspect of the online recruiting coverage that leads to lemming-like group behavior than the "crystal ball"? For all the reasons mentioned above (pressure to make predictions on kids you have never seen or covered), writers are most often going to follow the consensus. Better to be wrong with the group than to appear totally disconnected. What you also see are the reporters who are attached to a particular school coming out with predictions for their school, particularly In the time immediately after a student visits their campus and makes all the obligatory comments: "I was really blown away by Texas A&M Commerce's facilities, their coaches are so great and spent so much time with me, I want to go someplace where I can start right away and TAMC gives me that chance"....blah blah blah...Then when the kid doesn't commit they forget about him until his NEXT visit, when he says the same things: "Idaho State has great facilities...blew me away"...

Yup, he won't be flipping. The Bay Area culture was not to the liking of Hoge's. They have been gung-ho on Notre Dame almost from the very beginning of his recruitment. They recently bought a home in South Bend and bought Tristen a truck that screams 100% Notre Dame commit.

Not to change the subject, but we watched ESPNU's Elite Eleven doc today and it was excellent.  If replayed (which is probably will be) try to watch.  One take away was that Rosen is not the type we ever want on our team.  Supremely talented and uncoachable.  Arrogant and abrasive.  Entitled.  We had a very poor impression of him.

Another Jimmy Clausen? A reminder of why it is so valuable for Stanford coaches to get their prospective QBs on campus before extending them an offer

Not a direct quote but Rosen said, to the camera, after the coaches tried to get him to do things a certain way, tom Brady and Peyton Manning are special and do things their way and so do I.  Thats the way it is.  I wonder if Brady or Manning would have said that on TV as 17 year olds entering their senior year of high school.

The kid hasn't even suited up against us and I already hate him.  Too bad he isn't headed to $outhernCal.  His personality suits them perfectly.

If Rosen ever managed to beat us as a UCLA QB I expected a firestorm of posts from Stanford fans trashing our decision not to offer him. A few more quotes like this and I doubt if we will see them.

We thought exactly the same thing.  He seemed to have the sort of sneering arrogance seen before at SouthernCal.  One of the coaches commented that he has so much talent you want to love him but his personality is so abrasive you just can't.  They named him number 11 of the Elite 11, but there was a lot of debate among the coaches before doing so, all focused on attitude.  I would think he would be humiliated to be spoken of that way in public but I doubt it.  He was the only one of the 18 invited QBs who exhibited those traits.

He talks a lot about bonding with Meyer at OSU, but his criteria for deciding are somewhat favorable to Stanford:  "I want to go to a place I feel comfortable. Like a home away from home," he said. "I also want to go to a place where I can win championships and get a good education for my post-football life."  I note that, in addition to stating that he wants a good education, he says a "home away from home," rather than "close to home."

Based strictly on watching them be interviewed, Wilkins seems more like a Stanford guy than Green.  Any word on if Wilkins is taking two AP classes and filling out an app?  If he is, and visits officially, I'm pretty sanguine about him ending up at Stanford.  Hopefully he visits in January, for the mximum contrast in temps from CT to Stanford.

In his announcement, Marshall noted that his list included six schools.  He asked that the fans of Oklahoma and Texas help him choose which one to visit.  Yet another example of how social media are changing recruiting.

Also are these considered his top 6, since I believe USC is considered the favorite and not on the list (though seemingly he can take lots of unofficial visits there based on proximity)?

Does this mean Stanford has been eliminated?

The LA Times is previewing the high school football season by highlighting top players in the Southland.  Yesterday's article was about Equanimeous St Brown.

I am not holding my breath on the visit.  Iman said spring, then summer, but did he ever visit?
